Taking son on 3000 klm ride to let him watch the cricket .Any suggestions on inter communication systems between helmets, instead of usual punch to the kidneys to gain attention

There are several different types of inter bike communications on the market if you're into talking. We just worked out some hand signals between us and play it by ear.. fingers crossed means gotta pee.. pointing at the speedo means we need to slow down. Getting slapped in the back of the helmet with gloves means stop NOW I need a break. That one usually only gets used around the 100+ mile mark.

When I saw the thread heading, my usual thought was husband wife communication.

I was gonna suggest that that might be the only time a guy gets a little piece and quiet!

(Just kidding laydees )

I was just looking online at some communication systems because eventually I will need to get one. I think that one of the reasons my son (he will be 10 in July) has lost some interest in riding with me is because of the lack of communication/music and etc. I am thinking that a wireless system may be the best way to go because of safety. However there is soooo much stuff out there that is available.

For you guys, not in the U.S. I found this web site, http://www.starcom1.com. they have all kinds of systems and set-ups. Unfortunately they do not ship their bike to bike systems to the U.S.

Here is some other stuff that I did find in my online adventures this morning:
TORK Ridemate (http://www.bikeintercom.com/products/motorcycle_intercom.html) It is a standard wired rider to passenger system.

Chatterbox HJC-FRS Stereo Communicator ((http://street-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi-bin....html?E+scstore)) This is a wireless bike to bike system that is good for a range up to 2 miles.

J&M features a 40 channel CB radio (http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=24) I like this idea. It is a 40 channel cb radio with weather and inputs for a mp3 player as well.

I have a Chatterbox FRSX2. The VOX works but is overrated. There have been reviews that call the range 2 real-world miles... 1/2 at the outside is more like it. But within those limitations, it is a good bike-to-bike system. I haven't used it for rider to pax. If that were going to be the primary use, I'd get something a little further down on the dollar scale. I also run a satellite radio thru it for the speakers and the X2 volume does not control the sat radio so I put a Boostaroo in-line.
