Euro Gossip "Triumph is in discussion with American TV stars, Orange County Choppers, after it was revealed that they are using the Hinckley-built twin-cylinder engine for some of their future projects. This could see some form of official tie up in the future, although both sides remain tight-lipped at present."

I'll believe it when I see it (the re-run).

Oh I watch all those shows. American Chopper, American Hotrod, Biker Buildoff, et al. Some are more like watching a slow-motion train wreck whilst having bamboo splinters shoved under your fingernails... er, than others.

Triumph wants to see what not to do with a verticle twin. What better place to go for what not to do? I'd like to see Southwest Choppers (they specialize in old school Triumphs) or Rick Fairless get ahold of a new model Bonnie engine and build a bobber or 60s style chop with it. I haven't seen anything OCC has built that I'd ride. In fact none of their bikes look very rider friendly.

I stopped watching American Chopper a while back because it was starting to seem like every show was the same and they don't seem to show enough of them actually building the bike.
I like Rick Fairless, but it seeems that every Triumph he builds ends up looking like a super hippy bike with a worse paint job than the tie dye shirt he seems to alway wear. No offence to hippies.
What would be cool is if they could get that Russell Mitchell to build one of his bobbers or choppers using the Triumph parralel twins motors that we have in our bikes.
That reminds me of one more thing. If OCC does build that bike, I am almost willing to bet that they never mention that the motor gets used in an America or Speedmaster. But, they will mention Bonneville, Scrambler and Thruxton about a million times.

Not those no talent boobs, please! There are so many talented bike builders around who can do justice to our beloved vertical twin.

I look at it like this.. It is kind of 2 fold,
Triumph will get some market reconision,
And OCC will get more air time..
Yes they will most likley build a (chopper) that will hardley be ridden and toted around the country.. But remember folks Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks..Hate them all you want, but they found a nitc in the market and are making money hand over fist beacuse of it.. They are bike builders, Paul Jr has some impressive ideas for the bikes he builds, and Daddy bank rolls it for him.. It works for them so let it ride..
The TV showis a bit of a joke, but remember maybe 50% of the people who watch it dont have bikes, much less the diff in a chopper, bobber, prostreet, crusier, bagger etc etc.. All the see is someone making a bike, thats what America wants and The Discovery Channel provides it.. I personaly dont care for the show, matter of fact I had my cable TV shut off since i am never home ( 70 more a month I can put into bikes), But I have met them and they are or seem to be a nice bunch of guys.. they truley love bikes in all shapes and forms..
That being said,
They should build a bobber with the new 865 motor, nice paint job (the flat black "bad boy " look is played out" some nice wheels (no more spokes please) and some custom pieces that can easily be made by Joe Schmo at home with simple tools.. Oh andthey have to use a Triumph tank, even if modified, has to start as that...

I have gotten to the point where it really doesn't matter what they build. Its 9 feet long, makes a lot of noise and has similar dodads as all the other just matches the theme of the day. I figure their finished product is worth 80-100 grand so they are doin pretty darn good. Right place at the right time. I betcha they make a ton of money at thier store.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.
