Whats the sense? I've only been a member to this site for a few months but I'm really starting to see how some people like to turn everything into a political arena. I even got sucked in myself, I figured why not a little light banter? Then I realized people were taking other peoples opinions to heart, this leads to name calling, some people calling the mods names, and in turn the mods calling names back. What's the sense? The reason I joined this site is cause I own a Triumph Bonneville America!!!! So why dont some of you that are more politically motivated start your own biker politics website. So personally i'm going to stay out of the political debates, even tho i'm very opinionated, and stick to what i thought this site was about.MOTORSICKLES.

Dave, FWIW, that's my philosophy, too...you know the old saying, opinions are like a$$holes..EVERYBODY'S got one...and it can be very difficult to understand another person's point of view, or have someone else understand ours...difficulty accepting other's beliefs and viewpoints is one of the major sources of conflict in the WORLD, let alone on this site! LOL
so, I keep my opinions to myself, or perhaps I should say, I TRY to, as much as possible. I read some of the discussions going on in here, and I think to myself, nope, I'm not going there...although I've poked my nose in once or twice before I though about it. My 2p.

I think thats a good decision. Its the lounge, peoples views will always be different. Disrespect should never be tolerated but opposing views are a way of life. Heck, thats why they still make Harleys and Hondas.

Unless its a personal attack, I still maintain you don't have the right not to have your feelings hurt in a debate.. The beauty of a bulletin board is that nobody has to read a post or a thread, they choose to do that.

Sexist or racist comentary should not be allowed. But then again what is racist and what is sexist and to what degree? The mods have a very tough job for sure.

I have admined and setup several php boards. I always resisted general conversation about politics, religion, and sex for the reasons you have mapped out. From the 1st little harmless post you have no clue where it is going to lead.

Indeed its a very fine line drawn in the proverbial sand. How to determine the depth and breadth of an offense is often difficult.

That is why some forums simply choose to disallow in their entirely any discussions of any potential intrigue regarding politics/ religion or toilet training depending upon the nature and outlook of the cleintele to whom they cater.

The fact that this is a bike forum plays a huge role. There are posts in lots of the threads here that would get the author banned for life in some other forums that cater to different interests.

We do seem to have much thicker skin around here than in many other locales.
