About my future..

Going ot see a finacial advisor( know I tore that word up),, so I can make sure all will be put into place and ready for me to go when I am ready..( going to smoke brb)

oK SORY NEEDED THAT (OK WANTED IT)

Any how where was I.. Oh yeah. The plan is 0n my 50th B-day ( 20 years from sept)I will retire, hop in my new rv, i mean a big honking RV one of them ones you see on tv.. Hook up to the trailer holding the bikes ( hopefully be maried by then) and ride cross country.. I will sell my house and build somehting smaller on the land my father has given me so I wont have to stress about parking when I am home, and just kick back and relax..I figures I will have 31 years of EMS under my belt and that is more then enough time working.. But here is the catcher... I want a min of 3 million in the bank by the time this happens.. I know working EMS I will never se that so I am starting to invest heavy into long term things, but i want that amount of money, and still have money out there making me money, as in investments still paying off.. Not to mention my state retirement fund.. But here is the part I love.. I want ot be able ot go to every bike rally in the US.. At least the big ones,,oh and of course the anual GA rally.. Shame i missed it this year, but it is a good thing I had ot work. We had massive storms and many hurt idiots from them..

Back on track here ( see I told you I have ADD)

My budy and I are the same age, he was born 3 days after me, over the wekend him andI got to talking and here is what we came up with,, on our 35th birth days we are gonna buy a matching set of big touring bikes with trailers, mot likley electa glides load em up with enough stuff to make the trip from South Carolina to Alaska and ride the Alaskian highway camping out the whole time, not rented cabins but pop up a tent and sleep on the ground.. He wife loves the idea( such a great lady) and well I dont have a wife so it is a good idea for me.. Anyhow buy the bikes in Sept and then the following summer make the ride.. I think it will be a blast, I mean as of right now I could take all my PTO at work and not go back untill Aug, I feel they owe me that lol.. Planing on taking a month off to do it..

Ok I will stop babbling now, think the paint fumes are getting to me lol..

Good that you are planning at such a young age. Your power earning years are usually the next 20, so make good use of them! Then, in another 30+ years, you'll be my current age - and retired for sure.

"Plan your work and work your plan," or some such saying.

Best "fatherly" advice I can give you is to avoid debt, especially the credit card type, as it is so darned expencive! And get an IRA going, funded with some sort of equity, such as a mutual fund.

Oh, my younger son is a flight medic. He started out as an EMT at 18, then intermediate EMT the next year, and when he turned 21, was graduated from paramedic training. He's been able to work his way into a local medical flight service and into their management. In the meantime, he's taught not only CPR classes, but paramedic classes in some up-state Arizona locations. (Down side is that he's 34 and not yet married, though he's come close a few times.)

Ditch Dr, good for you. Many times people make good money but don't plan for the future. You're right on track....

Sound advice? Don't sell the back hoe or anything else for at least one year. Sometimes early retirement is not that glowing star on the horizon that you thought it was.

Dont forget to have some fun today!!! Nothing wrong with having a plan, but ive seen a lot of people put all there effort into the future only to become sick or worse. Just make sure you take time to dance before the songs over.

I retired at 49. Now 55. I live on dividends from Mutual Funds. It is possible if you plan at an early age. The earlier the better.
Thank you Merrill Lynch.
