Does anyone have plans for an ark?

I've never seen rain like this in New England. Dozens of roads closed. Lots of flooding all over the state. We're still expecting a couple more days of rain. We've gotten 12" of rain in the last 3 days. My basement is still dry but a few of my relatives are fighting a losing battle with rising water.

ATTENTION MOTORISTS! MAINE IS CLOSED!
No kidding.

I was at a wedding in Salem, MA all weekend (Had lunch with Rob in Wilmington, friday!) and it rained ALL weekend. Thismorning at breakfast, the bride's fam was leaving to go home to Maine and her uncle called and said he was one of the last cars thru before they shut down 95. A few people hydroplaned into the median and were floating... I also saw a sign on Rt 1 that said Peabody was closed too. And my friend's back hard in Medford was under 6 inches of water, but the streets were just steams, not quite rivers yet. The rain didn't let up till I got to RI, and even then it rained lightly all the way to the ferry in CT. But the seas were calm, and the roads on Long Island are dry!! Good luck Ron! Time to break out the swimmies.

I think I saw the animals going by two-by-two!

This sucks!! No roads closed here, but it's been raining since Tuesday and the forecast calls for rain until at least Saturday. WAHHHH!! I wanna ride!!

I have never seen it like this before. I was barely able to make it back and forth to Lee today and now Rt 152 is closed. They are evcuating, some low lying areas around me, luckily I'm on top of the ridge. Currently I have two sump pumps going full bore and the water isnt climbing in the basement anymore. I was just watching the news and they had some guys kayaking around york ME. If anyone in NH needs anything, pumps hoses etc. Just holler, and we'll try and help out.

Just got off the phone with the groom. He got back from the brunch around 1 to find 3 inches of water in the basement. It's a good thing he spent all last week sealing cracks, etc, or else it would have been worse WITH some damage!! He also said it was good all the fathers and such were there to help! Turns out the main problem was the storm drain in the street getting overloaded and one of his sump pumps failing. So they cut a small trench in the yard so the ROAD could drain into the woods thru the yard, and then his sump had somewhere to pump the water. Looks like this summer we're renting a jack hammer and diggin up the driveway to install some drainage!! Good thing this rain didn't start on tuesday when they are leaving for two weeks!!!

I just heard they're evacuating parts of Manchester, Hooksett, Nashua and Concord. They're afraid that the Merrimack river may overflow it's banks. All of it's tributaries are 6 to 7 feet above normal. This is not a good situation.

Yeah I know exactly where it goes in on my jeep. Just above the right headlight. That's my limit! That hummer fitted with a snorkle could probably totaly sumerge! Cool. I've gone thru some sick puddles in the jeep the last few days but nothing even up to the bumper...

At least you guys have some elivation. It rained not as hard and only for a day and streets were flooded like crazy here and the great south bay rises all the time. If it rained like that here you could dig all the trenches you want and the water would just sit... SO flat!! I really hope you guys catch a break soon!

Dan, I dont know if you can even get into Newmarket anymore. I just tried to get to my parents farm in Lee on 152 and "you cant get there from here, boy". The road is shut down through Nottingham and Rt 4 is closed by the Lee circle. Also I heard that 108 from durham is under water. Just a good day to stay at home.

Latest from my lunch hour tour...
Pasaconaway golf course is completely submerged, I did see the top of a flag sticking out of the H2O...the Merrimack is still hours away from cresting point and is threatening to cross 3a (Charles Bancroft Hwy) 13 miles of fine twisties...Maquestans Farm is GONE the only part left is the two buildings right on 3a (at least they seam to be taking it in stride...their sign out front says "got water??" some of the VERY nice "golf course side" homes 500-750 K are stand alone islands and it's only gona get worse over the next day or so....

Hey Rob,

Don't look now, but I hear Kevin Costner, in yet ANOTHER of his "brillant career moves", is on his way to your neck o' the woods, planning a sequel to that waterlogged Box Office bomb of a few years back.

I'm tellin' ya...that guy KNOWS a "sure winner" when he sees one, huh?!

Cheers,
Dwight

I guess my Monday golf league is cancelled this week. It's a good thing because I stink at hitting over water hazards.

I went to a wedding last fall, end of october in Farmington, CT. It was a sunny day, but It HAD rained the whole previous week or something like that. The golf course was just a couple little mounds, and the water was still rising because of the river being fed still by all the flooded areas. The river broke over the bank DURING the ceremony, and afterwards we watching it rise up the patio. Brick by brick... you could watch it. We even had to go back a different way than we came cause of the roads closed.
AND!! There were pumpkins floating down the river!! Actually kinda funny. Also not nearly as bad as this!

Hmmm. My copy of The Book reads seven-by-seven (clean animals), while the unclean went two-by-two.

ITS SUNNY, well kind of. But that better than raining. The water here is receding rapidly. Now we going to need a little rain on fri to wash all the sand, gravel and yuck off the roads so I can ride this weekend.
