I miss the look of my original pipes but not the sound. What variations on sound come from drilling out the originals? Can it be compared to any of the well known aftermarkets? Are there any aftermarkets that have the same look as the original? Thanks!

Personally I say forget that idea and choose the aftermarket option.

Thunderbikes, Epcos, Staintunes, specialty spares, abd scepters are amongst the most common.

It is the opinion of some of the more experienced members/riders that the drilling option is the poorer of the options.

Dinqua is amongst those I believe and he is in your neck of the woods. He is the Guru of performance mods and pipe mods.

I drilled out my stock pipes because of this reason. I wanted them to look stock but be loud. It is my bike so there for I am a little bias as to the sound of it. But I love it. Maybe some of the guys from the Idaho Invasion will chime in and tell you what it is like in comparison. and yes it is alot cheaper than new exhaust. I might be able to take a video and send it via email. I dont have any problems anymore with popping or anything. I dont know if it is becuase of the CR II carbs or not but I have no popping at all. They are loud but then I took EVERYTHING out of the stock. Even the reducer just inside the slip joint ??? I think. Right where the exhaust connects to the muffeler..

What? Did you say something? I can't hear you, your pipes are loud. But, they sound good

I took out another baffle (third) and am pleased with sound and performance gain. Didn't notice any real gain in power with only first two removed. Seems loud to me, but riders following me say its not too loud at all. All that's left in there is 1 more baffle plate with tube, and the narrowed section at the front. I've quit saving up for new pipes.
