Which should I get? I like the stainless steel of both. Which is a better performance pipe? Any thoughts appreciated.

I doubt you'd find a difference performance wise, but the epcos are a bit smaller diameter and a bit quieter. The Scepters are LOUD for sure.

Sceptres are excellent pipes. The finish is really amazing. I'm happy with mine, but they are LOUD!

If the Scepteres are louder than Epcos and I have heard Epcos which are louder than Thunderbikes than I would personally have to say the Scepteres are TOO loud. But thats a personal preference.
My Thunderbikes are seeming to get a bit growlier with a few miles on them.

Are the Sceptors much louder than the TOR's? Do they produce a deep rumble or are they "tinney" sounding? Not real happy with my TOR's, too quiet for my taste, so looking for something with a deeper rumble. Would the sceptors be the choice?

If you ride in a group you will DEMAND the Sceptres go to the rear of the pack. They are LOUD

Sceptres deffinitely have deep deep rumble. They are the best sounding pipes I've heard, but as stated before they are loud. Team Triumph of WI (the guys that make the sceptres) is currently working on some inserts for the sceptres that will keep the deep rumble, but quiet them down a bit if you decide they are too loud. I spoke to the shop early last month and they were working on the inserts and said they would be ready this month.

I also have Sceptres and love them. They are definitley loud and do produce a good rumble. I also had a set of pipes from Hermy's and they weren't as loud but had a much deeper rumble too them. Bottom line is that everyone has they're own taste. Good Luck! Kerby

I have the Epcos which are louder than the TORs. I then removed all of the glass packing and left the cheese grater tube in. That gave them a little more deep rumble and made them a little louder still. I also have a set of 1 7/8" drag pipes with a small baffle ring so that they appoximately match the flow of the Epcos. I don't think that the drag pipes are as loud as the Sceptres, they are loud and sound great. Figure out if you want to listen to LOUD all of the time.

We don't have an actual kit put together. Generally the packing should last a long, long time since it is stainless wool. We can put a kit together for you if you'd like. Are you having issues with them? Regards, Todd Ligman Team Triumph
What is the procedure for re-packing? Something about drilling the rivet, ...

[May 01, 2006]Yes, a # 7 drill bit will remove the rivet. Then you can work the baffle out the back side. It's easiest to remove the pipes from the bike first though. We will have optional tuned inserts available in about a month if you want to change the tone down a bit. Let me know if you need any other info or parts. Todd

Scepters are loud! Try removing your mufflers to get a sample.

I just got the Sceptres put on this weekend. They are loud, but very nice. They look wonderful too.

Don't be scared to just pull the 2 baffels out and drill 3 holes into the 2 plates of your stocks. Thats what I got and damn they sound good. I cheated though and bought them from the dude on e-bay. I just didn't want to jack with it myself.

Man I just purchased the Sceptres. They can't be louder than these V-Twins running around with straight pipes can they? The Sceptre sound clip I listened to was the best sounding pipes I ever heard for the Bonneville America.

The Sceptres are prety loud. It would be a good idea to hang onto your stock pipes so you can slip them back on for inspection in case you get a fix-it ticket.
