I'm a firm believer that air pressure is a major 'controllable' factor (riding style is the other)
You can't control the road surfaces/conditions, or the tire itself. You may not opt to change your riding style - But, maintaining the pressure is easy and therefore may be the ONLY, REAL controllable factor in tread life.
I'm soon to be ready for a front tire/tyre but have 14000 on the original. and have kept the 36 in it faithfully. I only got 8000 out of the rear, but suspect there was something screwed up with the tire. I've got 6000 on the replacement and it still looks pretty fresh.
That said - 36/36 is my answer and I'm stickin' with it.
