Did the belt drive makers ever come up with another ratio? Haven't heard much on it lately. I would certainly be interested if there was one to match the 18T sprocket set-up.

I though in the old archives it was mentioned that the QPD belt drive was darn close to a 18/42 setup...

Mouse...

I called QPD a couple weeks ago and they told me that the belt system for our bikes coould be suplied with a 24 or 25 tooth front pulley and a 59 tooth rear pulley. They told me that because of the center to center distance of the two pulleys that these were the only configurations that will work. The 25/59 combo gives you almost the exact ratio you would get if you have an 18 tooth sprocket on the front of the chain drive system.

We've since found that the 25 front will not work. There's just not enough room. We're now looking at using a smaller rear pulley but the issue then becomes how much adjustment room is left. I think we may have found the magic combo at 24/59, but we'll see.

Isn't the belt system pretty darn close to the stock America ratio?

Yes it is, but many people like a higher ratio.

Belts are available in any length you can imagine. With standard sprockets, one front tooth equals 3 back tooths.
Or is it teeth, I think teeth only apply to the mouth.
So it would be tooths or teefes.
If you don't mind drilling your own holes in the rear sprocket, you can probably go to Motion Industries and get a system for about $180.
