I went down to Walter Dyer Leather in Framingham, MA today. I've been wanting chaps for a while and couldn't find a pair that fit right. They're custom making them to fit my short stubby legs. What great people and excellent service. I also bought a nice leather jacket for the Fabulous Sue (Wife). I thought the price was reasonable for the quality and service. I can't wait to pick them up.

I have Walter Dyer chaps also, Ron. They are awesome. Heavy duty hardware, real leather, and they have held up great!

I got a pair of nice chaps from US Made Leather ordered out of their Maine store. After taking measurements, they had the factory in Mass. get a pair that fit me just right for about $150. Seriously nice quality!
Yeah, chaps have a weird connotation for some people... But they could protect your skin! Another big plus is they keep you warm in winter. I like that you can remove them easily once you get to work or wherever you're going.

I wonder if our British brethren are somewhat amused/confused by the title of this thread......

Man, you guys need to search the Internet more! I found a place in CA. called "Leatherup.com" They have Top quality leather and at 1/3rd the price. I bought chaps for $49 discounted from $175. Last Fall I bought X-Element Boots from them(Harness boots) for $87, normally $185. I know some of the places you are getting the stuff are Top of the line stores but guys, with the price of gas you have to save money someplace else. Just my Opinion, to each his own. Ride on, see some of you in Ga on Thursday. Steve
Where's my $6 million??

Like mine. Not only did I get them for protection but they make those early spring and late fall rides a lot more comfortable.

Grump,
We call them the same over here, so no real confusion.
The word does of course have other connotations - old Chap... but hey, each to their own.
