I just got home from the Minnesota Flood Run. That's the annual spring ride along the Mississippi from I-94 to Winona and back. I rode by myself, which is to say I didn't know any of the thousands of other riders. We gathered in St. Croix Beach for registration and breakfast. We then headed south about 10:00 am along the Minnesota side of the St. Croix River to where it flows into the Mississippi at Prescott, Wisconsin. The procession was several miles long until we crossed over to Prescott where many riders stopped for the first of several refreshment breaks. All along the way vendors, pubs, and charities were selling burgers and BBQ and brats and beer. The 4 Bs. What else could you ask for. The further we rode, the smaller all the groups became. I rode down the Wisconsin side until I could see the bridge crossing over to Winona. At that point I was starting to feel the cold and I lit out for home. I think I rode about 300 miles today, and in doing so I turned over 20000 on the speedometer. The Speedy ran great, even though I'm still planning on a jet change as soon as I get some free time. I also got to really break in my new Metzelers, which also performed great.

Here's a couple pics. It was impossible to show the vastness of the crowd, but here is my attempt. I'm also posting the obligatory pic of my Speedy. I only saw 2 other Triumphs, an older Sprint, and a yellow Daytona. I saw a scattering of Wings, Concours's, FJRs, lots of sport bikes, and an overwhelming number of Harleys.

One more thing. I parked the Speedy at Maiden Rock and then went to get some BBQ from a sweet young thing with purple hair and more peircings than a barroom dart board. I saw small crowds gather several times around my bike. They would stop and look and point at it, and nod and smile, and then walk on. It was fun to watch.
