I watched a program on the Discovery channel last night about the 1953 flood of London and the areas around the city. The program was about the next flood and how much worse it could be. It could be much worse than our recent Gulf Coast damage and cost. It made me wonder where Hinckley was in relation to London. My atlas does not show Hinckley nor Leicestershire. Would one of you give me a geography lesson?

Here you go. http://pagenation.com/world/Hinckley%20(England)_-1.37_52.54.map

Hinkley is a good distance from London. I think it's a bit higher elevation there as well, so it would take a really bad flood to reach the Triumph works. (TG!)

Dave,
Look at map, about 90 miles north/west of London, find Birmingham, look east, and it's about half way between Birmingham and Leicester.
Hope it helps.

Paul

p.s. Leicestershire is a county not a place so may not show up on your altas. i.e. The Shire(county) of Leicester.

Thanks Greybeard and Paul it's nice to know Hinckley is out of the way. If this thing does happen I feel for the 7 million people in London and the 110 billion dollars worth of damage that is projected. They have a barrier on the Thames, but it is feared that it could go over it. Well lets hope and pray it never happens.
