I have a 2004 BA that I had the dealer remove the AI. He claimed that the popping sound of the exhaust would diminish significantly after removal. It still pops as bad as before when letting off the throttle and de-accelerating. Is the air/fuel ration wrong? Have the shorty triumph off road slip-ons installed also. Other than that, everything is stock.

Try backing the air/fuel mixture screws out to 3 - 3,5 - 4 turns. You're probably running too lean.

Let me just add to pipers directions: Be sure to turn them in and bottom them out first, then back them out 3.5-4 turns.
If you have the little D shaped screws, give Brent a call for his tool, then procede.

Mine still pops after AI removal. I guess I'm used to it. The popping doesn't sound as bad, since I removed 2 baffles from my pipes. Screws are 31/2 turns out also.

Which ones are the air-fuel mix screws?

Under "downloads" on the home page there is a section for AI removal which has some good pix of the carbs and mixture screws.

Or you could go to Dinquas web page for detailed instructions.

Saw a cool D-tool made out of a piece of aluminum, hammered into a D-shape and cut to the right length. Ordering Brent's is probably faster!

Tbanga:
Check Dinqua's carb site for clear photo's and instruction on setting the air/fuel screws under each carb. Your settings are no doubt super-lean and that is causing the popping.

Some of that 'popping' may just be inherent to the short TORs. I removed mine and the popping left with them. I made NO carb changes, AI still in place, Air box original. Go figure...
