Last fall, I dropped my America on some garden stones in my driveway. The horizontal heat shield on the right side came a bit loose, but has been hanging on. Until my last ride. It came out of the little tabs, but also the small weld points are broken now. The heat shield it self is scratched now.

I was wondering if a shield could be replaced, but how would you attach it. If it wasn't too necessary, can I cut off the little tabs left on the exhaust and hope I don't burn myself...

Thanks. Charlie

If you find the need to replace it, find someone with a TIG welder that's good with thin metal, touch up the weld w/ some alum. paint (just like Triumph does). It should be as good as new.

I dropped my bike once on the left but funnily, the right shield is loose.

When mine came loose,I tacked mine back on with a stick welder and stainless steel rods. It just takes a small tack weld. And it will be out of sight anyway.

Hot pipes can be fun! My wife had the EPA notification branded into her calf for a while after she got off the Ninja and pushed her leg into the exhaust

Cheers,
Brad

You could always replace your heat shields with these, they may even increase hp
