Ok, Matt finally got his bike back together (waited long time for freak, not brent's fault though!) We got the custom throttle cable dialed in prefectly now and the Amals are still leaking a tad on the one side. We replaced ALL the gas hoses, they were all too big of an ID actually, and they all leaked a lot. We put on some clear 1/4" stuff so we could see the gas flow too. Anyway, Matt took it down the road a bit and it is running too rich so we need to get some smaller mains for it. I took it out for a quick spin and holy cow, she is a lot stronger than mine, darn it! The carbs seem to be just the right size and once we get them jetted in correctly, they will be very sweet indeed. The freak fit just fine with a slight bolt modification, the one filter was too close and rubbing so we replaced the large allen head bolt with a regular hex flatside bolt and this gave us the needed 1/4" of room. He's bringing the bike down to Ga, so y'all can see it and oogle over it there. C ya in a few.
Oh yea, Jaymo54's big bore (#4 for me) is also done now and just needs putting the misc covers back on and setting up the carbs a little more too. By the way, did you know that these bikes will only idle if you forget to put the carb needles in when you reassemble the carbs? They tend to backfire and stall at anything more than idle then. I took them out to drill the carb slides, then as I showed mike the correct placement of the little nylon footsies and such, I proceeded to put them back together leaving the needles on the bench. Doh, DumbButt mistake, cost me three hours work.

Is there an update #3? Was reading about the Amals over on the Delphi Bonnie forum, and thought maybe you could post something in here.
Also from Delphi that you posted; "A friend of mine just installed a set of 36mm Mikuni flatsides, not the HSRs with acc pumps. He got them from ProFlow and only paid $140 each. he just needed to buy the special 2 into 1 throttle adaptor and make a simple angle iron brace to hold them both steady. I heard them run for the first time today and was very impressed. A very viable alternative if you can do the small work involved in setting them up."
New thread for this one?

Sal,
Finally got sick of the leaking carb bowls, removed them and reinstalled stock CVKs back onto Matt's bike so he can come. I figured it might distract my riding if I had to stop and put the fire out on Matt and his bike as we rode to Georgia. I don't want nothing slowing me down. Especially a flaming yute.

The Amals originally came from Norman Hyde in the UK.
