I don't know, how do we adjust the cam chain?
Can anyone explain the procedure without too much trouble?

The cam chain is automatically adjusted by the rear cam chain adjusting ratchet prawl. (Cool name for a part too)
If by chance you loosen and remove the big screw holding it in, you are supposed to remove the entire assembly then reset the prawl according to the service mqanual. If you don't have a manual, don't mess with ti at all. It should never need anything anyway.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

I knew it was self adjusting, but didn't know if I needed to adjust it for a tension range. I had an old Yamaha 650 that needed to have the lock nut loosened and the tension screw hand tightened about every 12,000 miles.
This is good news - "I DON'T HAVE TO ADJUST MY PRAWL, YA'LL"
I seem to be hearing a bit of a whine from the engine now. I figured the tension of the cam chain might be the culprit. Maybe I need an oil change? 42,000 miles may be all the Quaker State can handle (just kidding).
Hey, maybe it's time for a big bore kit? I am about 60,000 miles early, but it couldn't hurt.

What you hear is probaly the normal (for a gear drive) primary drive noise. It goes away if you have a loud enough exhaust system.  When I first got mine, when stopping, just before gettin slow enough to pull in the clutch, it would make a chirping noise like the Velocette I had many years ago. The Epcos cover that nicely.
