Okay, I know there are several threads with some great cross reference guides that will show you the type of plugs that will fit our bikes. I also know that you should be able to go to the manufacturer's site to determine what you need for your ride. I am hear to tell the BA.com family that I have found an error (I think) on the NGK site. If you go there first to determine your plug type, BEWARE! Here is the link which lists the incorrect plug type as a DPR9, when our bikes take an 8. Don't they? http://www.ngk.com/results_appOther.asp?otherMotiveID=31047&mfid=1

I've been saying that for the last 6 months, first having posted it at RAT back then. But i guess not many read my posts. But yep, thats true and it's also why there's always been confusion about which iridium is the right one. If you look up the correct iridium for our bikes the answer they give is the 9 which is wrong. But if you cross ref the iridium from our CORRECT stock plug then you get the proper answer. I even emailed them about this months ago but i guess they could care less.

Ryan, The web site you posted isn't really NGK's web site. It is actually SparkPlugs.com in disguise. According to NGK's real web site ( www.ngksparkplugs.com)they show the proper plugs DPR8EA-9 (standard) and DPR8EIX-9 (iridium). Soren

I actually was referring to your post among others in my original post. Just thought it was worth its own thread at this point. Interesting that I didn't catch the sparkplugs.com link. In any event, I am going with the standards, because that is what is in-stock here in town. Next time, if I don't like these, I go with Brent.
Oh, and nothing wrong with Brent either. I just sent him another order! Get them in before Georgia folks!
Has the spark plug cross reference made it to the "vault"? It may be there, but I was surfing around late into last night and don't remember.

Ryan
p.s. I see the info in the "vault" now. Awesome.

That IS the site that i originally got the wrong info from. I thought they changed it but wasn't sure after reading this thread. But they did have it wrong before and I recall someone at rat i believe mentioning the real site so i made sure i went to the right place. I sent them an email about it so apparently it DID get thru since it is now correct. Coulda sworn i looked at it back then after my email and saw it was changed, but it's been a while and i couldn't be sure. Quote:

Let us not ferget that the plugs sell for under 2 bucks each at the local auto parts store and start at 3 bucks at the stealers shop.

Just been on the blower to the local NGK people in Sydney, and they assure me that using the DPR9EIX-9 (Iridium) will NOT adversely affect the bike. Better to be one plug colder than hotter, so they say???

Colder is OK as long as the plugs don't start fouling. But I normally use the correct plug type on my bikes.

I bought the DPR9EIX-9 plugs from Brent think they were the correct replacement. I really don't feel like spending $15 again for the correct plugs. Why doesn't he sell the correct heat range? I'm not made of money here!
