Bought some new rubber for my 2015 Speedmaster so its ready for 2023. A local shop gave me a good end of season deal installed on the rims (not the Triumph dealer) so I bit but now to get my front wheel off I have to buy a 22 MM Hex head driver. What's up with that and whats wrong with a nut like on the rear end? The OD of my spark plug socket is 22 mm but the thing is torqued on so tight from the factory it wont budge so I need something that fits my extended handle.

Did you loosen the pinch bolts? I have those hex tools but I used a bolt head before I had them. You can use the bolt head with 2 nuts on the bolt used as a jam nut to turn it. If you have a torch just bend the bolt (that's what I did) It should not be torqued that tight.

Hey thanks for the suggestion about the bolt and two nuts. I found a set at Princess Auto (where Canadians shop for tools) but have little use for all the other hex heads bits and $49.95 + tax. A specialty fastener shop found that a #14 metric bolt has a 22mm head so Bobs Your Uncle. The factory had torqued down the bolt so tightly that the nuts spun even with a lock washer between them so I used my 18 inch pipe wrench to start it then switched to crescent. At least for putting it back together I can get a 22mm socket it on it and torque it properly it sure felt like more then 95nm

Sounds to me like it was way over tightened at the factory.

I have used a reversed spark plug socket fitted to an extension to loosen the front axle... It was equipped with an external hex section for plug removal that fits the axle.
