Hi Everyone- when I removed front sprocket I noticed while in gear my driveshaft that holds front sprocket seems to have a lot of play when I turn shaft front to back. I can turn it freely by my fingers forwards then backwards about a tooth and a half. Seems excessive —anybody move theirs to see if that is a lot? I am Wondering if previous owner ran chain to tight? Anybody know if their driveshaft moves freely this amount while in gear??Thanks Much.

That used to be totally normal on the old bikes since they engaged by dogs and no syncros. There will be some play even with a syncro trans, if it was too tight you wouldn't be able to shift.
