Who here is a craft beer fanatic? And I'm not talking about any sort of corporate owned used to be, but a certified independant craft brewer. I absolutley love finding new beers, hazy New England IPAs, milk stouts, porters, milkshake IPAs, black ales... lets discuss!

I am a home brew drinker but not a "craft" beer fanatic. My brother and I (me mostly for the last several batches) have enjoyed the DIY product. Drink mostly store bought beer but enjoy the home brew. We do have a place downtown (McGuire's Irish Pub) that has been doing the craft thing for many years. They have a number of good beverages, I have enjoyed a few pale ales and reds

We have an abundance of small craft brewers in the Ottawa valley some very good and others not but then that's personal taste isn't it. Our grocery stores in Ontario earned the right to sell beer a couple years ago but it must be the craft beers making the industry much more viable. Probably like yourself Roadworthy I like to go out to the brewery and have a small sample check off the one or two I like then when shopping amongst the hundred or so in the cooler I know what I'm buying. We pay $3 to $4 CAD and sometimes more if high alcohol content for a 473 ml (17 oz) can.

That reminds me I have a Cherry Porter tucked away in the cool room, someone brought it to a dinner party and left it for my pleasure that might just have to come out to celebrate Easter Monday.

Southwest PA has become a hotbed of flourishing craft brewers. I prefer to patronize them rather than the typical bars for the most part. I enjoy experiencing what other consider 'good' beer, however, the addition of flavor enhancing ingredients and what I consider 'over-hopping' are not my cup of tea (or mug of beer). My preference in regard to beer clean, clear, and crisp - somewhat in the German style of beer, There are a few crafters in the area that produce this sort of product and I routinely seek them out. Conversely, I do enjoy flavored porters and stouts - particularly vanillas and coffees.

I'm not in to the home brewing, it seems like a lot of time effort and money into an experiment that might end up getting dumped down the drain! I leave somethings to the professionals and I'll pay them handsomely for their experience!

3 or 4 bucks a pint seems like a fair price, I'll pay 10-20 dollars for a 4 pack of pints pretty regularly, and when I go to the breweries I can run a tab up pretty quick

It seems like all of PA is booming in the craft brew industry! Colordao, Michigan, and Oregon are also really popping when it comes to independant craft brewers. I think here in the St. Louis area we have over 60 breweries, all within probably an hour of me. It's exciting times to be a craft beer fan!

We go the simple route. A can of mix+sugar+hot water+more water followed by time, a little more sugar+time and of course labor/handling. And the effort is rewarded with a tasty, repeatable brew at a cost comparable to store bought.
Love to sample the craft brews but am out less and less with an income that matches

As some of you well know, I was a commercial brewer and left that industry. I then took up homebrewing as a hobby and have about 35 years into that.

One of our (wife and I) favorite passtimes (weather permitting) is to ride to different brewpubs, have lunch, try the beer sampler (and some waters). Get a growler filled and ride home. I do not have a particular mileage range limit for doing this but so far 5 hours ride each way has been the max for a lunch trip.
So many interesting beers out there. And the last few years, more meads and ciders coming on, some very good.

If you like a good Pilsner and you see this brand pick up a six pack. You will know its different the second its in your hand their bottles contain 20% more glass than the average beer bottle and get recycled many more times. (a little like the "Sambat" made from Sugar Maple used by many in the national baseball leagues but thats for another thread) It is an enjoyable brew any time of year and is the favourite here during the warmer weather.

On our two week trip to Northern Ontario we ran into three micro brewereries we liked two on Manitoulin Island (worlds largest fresh water island) and one in Timmins, Greggors neighbourhood. We brought back a growler of a blueberry infused brew to have with some pork I am smoking.
