Several years ago I bought a used pair of Sceptre pipes. They did not come with the 8" secondary baffles. For a long time I loved how loud they are but times change and I would like to quiet them down.
I have fabri-cobbled some 8" baffles with ceramic packing which make the sound much more tolerable, while still being fun, but I noticed a rivet that appears to hold the main baffle in place. I've done some reading but there's not much information about that baffle.
Does anyone know if that baffle can be removed & repacked so that the pipes would be quieter, which may allow me to not need to use the second baffles?
Many thanks.

Thank you. I had been trying to find their website! All the old links were dead. I tried to call them today but forgot it was Monday when most cycle shops are closed so I'll give them a shot tomorrow.

I just saw this thread. I went down and checked my Sceptres on my 03. The Sceptre has no "secondary" baffle as far as I can tell, just a baffle. I believe it's held by a rivet. I'll check again after work when I can change out of this suit.

the second baffle was an option. Silver or Gold inserts, 2 different sizes

I didn't get a second baffle, was unaware they were an option. I bought mine in the spring of 2004.

I bought the second baffles years later when I wanted to tone the loud down just a touch. I got the silvers, which shrink down to 1 1/2" from the original 2"

The Sceptre are loud and really LOUD when you want them to be, but you know that. Mine seem to have mellowed with age to my ear, they've cut my hearing by 50% like sitting in the front row at too many rock concerts.

I had put those second baffles in my wife's speedmaster because she felt it was just to loud. It did have a nice, more mellow sound.
I have the old originals scepters with no provision for extra baffles. And I like that way. LOUD

Make your own baffles, perforated stainless tubing, properly sized washers and welded on tabs for mounting, it's all out there and available. If you can weld/tack with 3/32nd stainless rod or have a friend that can, you can fab up a fine sounding, matched functional set of baffles without a lot of drama or big expense.

I would think there are baffles on the market that would fit.

I second this. I bought after market baffles when I purchased a used set of Epcos off another member that were missing a baffle.
2006 865 Neon Blue/Jet Black Speedmaster,790cams, TTP Stage 2 Firestarter, Epco Exhaust with 10.25" Samson Vrod baffles, UNI pods with 40 pilots, 150 mains,Thruxton needles, 3 turns out.

Sceptres are the same size of stock pipes. You really can't tell they are not stock pipes till the bike starts up. Has anyone here replaced stock pipe baffles?
