Hey!
Anyone here from around Sc? Any recommendation for ear plugs/hearing protection that I can use to avoid hearing buzzing and ringing after every ride? Still doing some research though...

Cheap, dime-a-dozen soft plugs work well for me. The ones they give away at work or you can buy at any drug or hardware store.
I wish I had started wearing them years before I did.
Now, I take my hearing aids out to put in plugs before putting my helmet on..

It's kinda sad to know you're having a problem with your hearing and using aids now. The cheap foam ones doesn't work for me. Tried them and had my ear canals inflamed.

Will probably check them out as I need a pair for tomorrow. Fireworks hurt my ears too.

I like Howard Leight Max Lite. Roll 'em between thumb and forefinger, quick lick, pop 'em in. Perfect every time. Get a big box. Cheap enough to bin after each use.

You know what... I think I've tried Howard Leight plugs before. I believe a friend of mine gave me a pair of the corded ones about a month ago. Sadly, those didn't fit that well in my ears too because of my narrow and weird angled ear canals. What can you guys say about custom earplugs like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeMNnjPBsjU&t=18s and also this https://www.bigearinc.com/wear-ear-plugs/? Do you think getting customs will do?

I had custom earplugs made some years ago (which I managed to lose). Apparently my right ear canal is narrow but the Max Lite roll up small enough for me. Hope you get something sorted. I'm sure I read years ago that prolonged wind noise at even 60-70mph can cause permanent ear loss, not the engine or pipes.

A helmet with ear flaps, 3/4, and full in that order makes a very big difference. As above the wind noise is the big hearing damage problem. 3/4 and full make sure it fits well for the best wind noise reduction.
Wind noise can easily exceed 100 db over 60 MPH where the high that won't do damage to your hearing is 80. When you are riding the wind noise is kinda like being close to the band in a live music venue for that amount of time.
Riding motorcycles for over 50 years 1/2 the time without a helmet I attribute to my ear ringing and constant saying of huh? what?
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Yeah, helmet matters a lot. I have a Shoei Multitec and a cheaper HJC IS-Max II. The HJC is noticeably louder. I’ve been riding, like Saxtron, over 50 years; everything he said I agree with and or experienced. And my hearing aids don’t get me back to where I was. +1 on ear plugs!

I ride to get rid of the buzzing and ringing, also the voices in my head.
