I reccomend no lube on the X-ring chain. The double sealing surface keeps the factory lube in and any applied lube out. All chain lube does is attract dirt causing the chain and sprockets to wear faster. I took my last set off with no lube at over 25,000 miles and the chain and rear sprocket showed no visible wear and the front sprocket showed such a small amout of wear you almost couldn't see it. They are hanging in my shed as spares.

I like the idea of chain saw oil, i got tons of that. I use the BelRay chain wax myself, until it is empty then I will try the chain saw oil.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Never tried it but should be similar. Only difference is the O-ring has a single sealing surface and the X-ring has 2.

It's good of you to patiently explain again your practice. Even though we like to rib you about it. And I DID learn something here today. Didn't know the difference between x and o ring chains.

It was ribbing from BigBill that prompted me to stop lube all together to see what would happen.

Isn't that the same dude that told me my elevator idea would never work? (I lost any kind of count after 5 years and thousands of safe operations)

Changed my chain on Crantini my 07 Speedmaster at 30Km 25Km with no lubricant. It had a slight stretch after measuring with micrometer but then again who with that age doesnt have some stretch marks? My daughter turned it into a piece of art for a heavy metal band (same daughter in video of Royal Enfield post blowing fire) however I never saw it again.
