Gene Romero, one of the great Triumph factory racers of old and winner of the 1970 AMA Grand National Championship, has died at age 71.

You may remember Gene (nicknamed "Burrito") Romero, pictured on the right in 1971 after winning the No.1 plate the year before, along with then BSA factory racers Jim Rice (center) and Dave Aldana (left) in Bruce Brown's 1971 classic motorcycle themed documentary film On Any Sunday.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I am sure if I still had that collection of Cycle World magazines from the 60s I would have photos of and would have read about him. RIP

Does Turner Classics have On Any Sunday listed?
