I really like it. I am really curious as to what Triumph's plans are for the Thunderbird as well.
2006 865 Neon Blue/Jet Black Speedmaster,790cams, TTP Stage 2 Firestarter, Epco Exhaust with 10.25" Samson Vrod baffles, UNI pods with 40 pilots, 150 mains,Thruxton needles, 3 turns out.

The plans are not to make anymore, at least not in the 1600/1700 variant. I'm sure the name will be recycled as it's one on the oldest Triumph names, 1950. Just not in the near future.

Yep, and I have a feeling that the Speedmaster is probably going to be the only Cruiser styled motorcycle you're likely to see Triumph producing for the foreseeable future too, and primarily because I believe the decision makers at Triumph are and have been taking note of the latest and declining fortunes of The Harley-Davidson Motor Co., THE biggest producer of Cruiser style motorcycles out there.
(...and yes, even taking into account the recent relative success of Polaris' Indian brand)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Zig Wheels out of India has a good comparison to the Ducati (both of which would be too hefty for me to handle off road) Should be easy to release in India as it will probably be made by Bajaj the people that bring you those fun loving very dangerous 3 wheeled Tuc Tuc taxis.

Actually I'm holding out for the Scrambler 2300, a 1200cc Scrambler is just not big/heavy enough to fling around in the dirt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1JdF184l04

I'm afraid you're correct Dwight.I'd love to see a 1200cc America but I doubt it'll happen.I think Triumph are concentrating on the "Traditional" Bonneville lines of old and of course the adventure bikes which I think are doing well for them

The new Speedmaster is just so small compared to ours.I just wish that they would have went with a frame and dimensions similar to ours instead of just putting a different swingarm on the bobber and trying to sell it to us as a cruiser. My hope is that the America and or Thunderbird will get revived at some point as a real full size cruiser that you can ride two up on.

You, Me and a lot of others JD.All they had to do to please most of us was drop the 1200 engine in our format of bikes.Maybe give them a twin front disc like the old speedmaster and that's that. The new tank is 12 litres! The old ones were [like mine]were 16.5 or 18-19.A 12 litre isn't going to give much cruising range I don't think

The new Speedmaster is a Townie and the new Scrambler is still a road machine for most that will buy it. A buddy bought a BMW GS1200 water cooled he is tall and strong and I bet it never leaves the road but he loves it for doing long trips because of the ergonomics.

I agree with all of that.....I don't want to reiterate my previous whinges about the loss of practicality with the new bikes. Looking at the new scrambler 1200 though it still seems to have a padded plank for a seat and nowhere for luggage....so it misses the target yet again for me.
I took the Road Less Travelled.
Now where the ****** am I?

I wish they'dgive me free reign in the design dept. at Hinckley.Of course they may never sell another bike except to me
