In the 21st century zeal to turn every know information item into an emoji/icon the new warning stickers applied to 2018 tanks are just plain awful. The “read the manual about the tachometer” sticker is smack dab in the middle of the white custom swoosh and the size of an iPhone. It’s an affront to humanity and I want to take it off. Who has removed their stickers before and not ruined the paint? How did you do that? Thanks in advance.

Hair dryer. NOT heat gun.

Any residue can then be removed with WD40.

I remember having a hard time getting the warning sticker off my first new street bike in 1976. I recently saw the same year and model for sale on CL. It had the sticker and it is readable 42 years later. Maybe it wasn't meant to come off.

From a collectors stand point that sticker being there increases the value of the bike. That being said, if I was buying a new bike I would want it gone too.

use some WD-40 and one of those AARP cards they send in the mail, the ones that are not really plastic but harder than paper. no scratches.

and there are more annoying ways to warn you than the stickers. My wife's can am spyder randomly requires you to affirm that you have read the safety manual or it will not start the engine. It has a handy laminated copy in a slot on the dash board. I am fairly certain there is a sensor in there to verify that you at least took it out and out it back.

Problem solved. My Milwaukee heat gun on low and not for a very long time, followed by WD-40 and an application of Meguiars Gold carnuba wax. I’m thinking that the newness kept the glue from setting up totally, they just peeled off with a gentle application of my fingernail and no drama. So much better.

They should just install a plug in the ignition switch with a tag that says, "Throughout the manual we have enclosed hints on how to remove this plug. If you want to ride, read the manual and learn how to get the plug out of the keyhole."

On the other hand, I read the manual for the '54 Triumph just because I enjoyed the Britishisms in the text. Like, in the chapter on starting off and going through the gears. "Raise the shifting lever fully with the right toe to change to the next gear. Release the clutch lever, smartly this time."

Don't need no dam stickers if the book is fun to read!

Royal Enfield figured that out long ago. If you ever get a chance to read one of the old manuals do so it's fuuny as hell. They talk about surface people because of them being made underground.

I peeled the ones off my 2003 in the showroom when I picked it up. Idon't recall there being any residue. But it was 14 years ago.

Best thing I found to take off sticker residue was rubbing alcohol

Just an old Hippie and I don"t know what to do.

The 2015 Speedmaster I just bought still had the stickers on the headlight, tank and battery but then it only had 1500 km They peeled off with only a little residue, I'll try the alcohol.

Googone, lighter fluid, kerosene, diesel fuel, jet fuel, all will do the trick. Actually they are all pretty much the same thing.

I peeled the ones off the 2015 I just bought with no problem but it did require a little wd40. Its like the guy knew he was not going to drive it very far after he bought it and left them for me.
