About 2 weeks ago, my speedometer quit working, went somewhere, parked for a hour or so, got back on and I was going 0 MPH, and the odometer and trip odometer also not working. I _hope_ it is a speedo cable. I have not seen and did search for others having speedometer problems, and does not seem a common problem.
FWIW, my low fuel indicator either went out 2 months ago, or I suddenly started getting a lot more than 150 MPG, do not think it is related to the speedo problem, ....
Anyway, anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I'd hate to buy a new speedometer. I plan to get down on it with some tools to see what I can find in the next few days.

Chances are it's the cable or drive at the wheel but some have had speedo failures. There is a gear in the back of the speedo that I have heard of failing but not common. With all 3 parts not working probably the cable.

Thank you Dog33. I just dropped it off for scheduled service, and did not have a chance to look at the cable first. Hoping for the cable, 35US$. Not sure how to inspect the drive at the wheel, but it is a kinetic (non-electric) part...
Will let you guys know what I find out. Shoudl be able to check it out this wkend.
If I had a proper petcock, I probably would not care.

Start with the simplest, easiest thing. I’ve had two cables break so far over 109000 miles on my ‘04, but my ‘09 hasn’t give me any cause to look at it.

That low fuel light could always come on a little later than it does, but without it or at least an odometer, you might as well be riding blind.

The drive is a washer with internal ears that engage the gears to drive the cable and outer ears that are bent to engage notches in the hub. I had one go bad, the ears broke off that engage the wheel.
