I should have posted this in the tech section but the old time members congregate here. I have a 2002 BA and have an opportunity to buy a 2004 the same color as mine. Does anyone remember in what year Triumph changed the shape of the tank? There was discussion at the time.
This will save me a 4 hr. drive if the tanks are not the same.

I want to say 07 - didn't that come with the EFI? Certainly my 04 had the original shape.

07 across the pond, 08 here. I have an 07 that has the normal tank, but with steering stops closer together for the new tanks. FI was a year later for the colonials.

In Australia 07 was the last of the smaller tanks, some confusion occurs when the bike was actually built the year before, mine is definitely an 07 ( mag wheels..black 865 engine..later pillion peg hangers) and is registered as an 07, although the vin sticker states 12/06. Carbed 08 models were the start of the larger tanks over here.

Peter, the reason for your confusion here is that for many years now the majority of vehicle manufacturers in the world have used the "American model year system", and which historically has started around the month of September. Vehicles produced during this month and later in the same year are considered products of following year's model year run.

(...I believe this all started years ago because of the summer vacations taken during the summer months by auto workers and assemblers, and then when they'd return to work, the next year's model run would commence)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
