November 5th, in SoCal the 38th Annual best ride by a dam site is happening. See socalnorton.com calendar for details. The wife and I have been a couple of times, its always a hoot. Unless I can do some fast talking to visit family, and then slip away it will be a no show for me and the TBA.

Leaving this Thursday for SoCal to attend what'll be my 22nd Hanson Dam ride, Bob.

Will probably see Leno ride in on one of his Brough Superiors or Vincents again.

(...hope the weather is decent...the 7 day forecast for L.A. is showing a 60% chance of rain on Sunday, dammit)

So Dwight, how was the event? Anything story worthy this year? As you seen or rather not seen Amy and I did not make the Dam ride again!

Probably the coolest bike there this year Bob, was the actual BSA Rocket 3 racer that Dick Mann won the 1971 Daytona 200 miler on, and as you may recall, back then the premier motorcycle road race event in all of America.



It would be "Bugsy" Mann's victory at that year's race--I remember listening to it on the radio--while riding this very bike which would be the impetus for me to purchase a Rocket 3 within the following week.

(...you remember that old saying: "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday", don't ya?!)

Nice report on the BSA Rocket 3, looks like the weather cooperated for the event. That time period, around Dick Mann winning the Daytona is mostly a blur, I must of remembered Dick winning on the Honda CB 750 earlier, due to that was mostly what I rode back in the day.
