Courtesy of some unknown person in a silver vehicle make and model unknown the new T120 and I plowed out a ditch along Ark 221 near Eureka Springs. In a pretty sharp turn they drifted across the center-line and once I was pushed to the pea gravel on the edge of the road it was a long slide down the ditch bank and into the bottom for the bike and I got to slide along in the nice gravel on the ditch bank. My back is hurt, but pain pills helped and xray doesn't show anything broken so I am only scuffed up a bit. All that gear I wear paid off. Helmet is scratched all to hell, Kevlar jeans torn, and jacket is scuffed up too. Bike has a bent rear wheel (from hitting a large boulder in the bottom of the ditch) and blown out tire/tube, broken gear shift, scuffed primary cover, etc. etc. Nothing that can't be fixed on me or the bike. Am very lucky to have been so unlucky. Never saw the person or really the vehicle since I was desperately trying to brake out of their way. I figure a distracted driver at least or drunk or just a bad driver.

Glad you came through as well as you did. It seems to get worse out there every year.

Nobody ever crashes wishing they were wearing sandals, cutoff jeans, a S.O.A. brainbucket and a tanktop. Glad to hear you survived and your bike is fixable. And people tease me about all the stuff I wear out riding, whatev.

A few years ago a babe on the back of a Harley wearing short shorts, a cut off t-shirt and sandals asked me if my flip face helmet, kevlar jeans, leather jacket and gloves were hot (it was 85 plus) I answered "Why yes they are when I'm stopped. But if I should end up on the pavement all the skin I lose will have come off a cow." I suggested she look up "Road Rash Girl." On the other hand, she did look VERY good the way she was dressed.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

GEAR SAVED THE DAY! Your good sense definately saved your butt. Glad you're all right. And like others on here, I've been teased for wearing leather coats and stuff for years. And some of those teasers should have known better. I liked Larry's response to teasers the best. I'll try to remember THAT one!

Dang Troy, glad you made it through to retell the story. The boulder part really got my attention. Those things are usually unforgiving. By reading the story I suppose no one else was around that witnessed this?

I'm glad you are none the worse for wear. The rest is just money.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Whew! "Am very lucky to have been so unlucky." How true. Thank goodness you came out without any major injuries, but I bet you were hurting yesterday and are hurting today. Here's to a speedy recovery and a quicker motorsickle restoration.

Yes, am really lucky. Had to work hard to avoid a headon with the unknown party. I guess someone would know who they are if I had hit them. First couple to stop got there while the dust was still flying (bike and I both looked like dust covered ghosts). They saw the vehicle but could only confirm that it was silver colored. No make or model or other info. I have to haul the bike to Springfield to get an estimate for repair but will probably just buy the parts and install myself to make up some of the deductible. So far looks like about $2,800-3,000 for parts. But some have to come from England so my season is just about over anyway. I guess the S2000 will get a fall workout this year with no bike to ride. Still have the Tiger 800 but have restored it back to full saddle height and it's just a bit too tall for me to be comfortable. Getting old is a bitch. Anyway thanks Guys for the well wishes and concerns. Next time I see you ask me about my rescuers! Sure a story to tell there but not in writing.

Yesterday was the first day that I made it without pain pills for my back. Seem to be recovering fairly well. Am still kind of shocked over the whole thing. Anyone who has been on the Arkansas Rally the last couple of years knows that 221 is a great road to ride, as much for the lack of traffic as the curves. The only vehicle I met was on my side of the road. For the hours I was standing on the side of the road after the crash only saw a few vehicles pass by. So I guess just rotten luck. I have always tried to ride like everyone I meet is trying to kill me. In this case was absolutely true.
