OK, I have a LEFT hand threaded tie rod end shaft and need to get a nut for it. Do I have to have a LH thread nut or will a standard RH nut thread on but flipped over ? This simple, but profound thing has me profoundly flustered.

you need a left handed nut. but why? it should thread into the knuckle piece

A left handed thread stays left handed from both directions. Wade, if you need a left handed 6mm jam nut for your shift rod, I can hook you up in tomorrows mail. Pm me at my gmail account.

Thanks Enlightened and Benevolent Beings

but this is for a golf cart steering assembly, the only tie rod that would fit was from a whatever brand/year car we found, it fits , the shaft goes into a hole in a pivot and held there with a nut. The threads on this thing are LH, hence the inquiry. Beggars cain't be choosy. So, will look for a LH nut, or tap out one myself. And it's metric, aaarrrgggghhhh !!!

https://www.mcmaster.com/ has everything and they ship fast. They also provide the dimensions on nuts and bolts that many vendors do not.

I bought the reverse thread die to cut threads on a bolt for my aftermarket shift rod. the RH was about 6 bucks and the
LH was about 40. from mcmaster/carr

Here's a little joke about the difference of Left Hand and Right Hand threads.

For a lifetime a man did hunt for a woman with a corkscrew c nt

But when he found her he dropped dead

Because hers was a Left Hand Thread.
