Very nice, the use of a softail maintains the golden triangle and makes for an excellent look.

I like it! I wonder if it would be fairly easy to swap out the wheels for cast ones, like the current Speedmasters.

Pretty cool. Reminds of the originals a little except for the hardtail look. Maybe for sale next Spring??? Is a new America going to soon follow???

I'm curious to see how Triumph will market the new Speedmaster. Will it get the "Brutal Bobber" marketing tour, or the original Speedmaster/ America marketing of " oh yeah we also have a cruiser"

Pricing will also be interesting.
2016 list price for a Speemaster, $8,400 USD.
2017 list price for a Bobber, $ 11,900 USD.
This new speedy looks to be nothing more than a refined Bobber with chrome exhaust, different rear fender, seat and pillion seat. And hopefully a larger tank from the T120.
So are we looking at $12,900 / $13,400 price tag? Ouch

Well Mike isn't any bike just a some of all it's parts? I mean they derived the original TBA/Speedmaster from the standard Bonnevile. Tweaked the engine frame tank etc. Isn't that they are doing now? All these models are based on the new Bonneville line .

As for marketing I bet there's some flash and hype but I bet it won't be like the Bobber. That one was their baby and I guess has proved to be a big seller.

I agree w you price is going to be up there. Between 12-13 big ones. With all the derivatives of the New Bonneville out there, I don't think the Speedmaster will make near as big of a splash as the original TBA.

Not a negative comment about the "refined Bobber".
I was merely pointing out the cost of the striped down Bobber in comparison to the previous Speedmaster and possible cost of the new one.

Also the early TBA was more than just the Bonnie dressed up. Different "crank", frame, wheels, tank, fenders, seats etc.

Oh I know. We're just discussing this new Cruiser some people have been waiting for w a bigger engine. If some can get over the fact that everything is not going to be like the originals, I think they will be a hit. Might even have to change the little pics of the bikes at the site header.

I like it. She looks beefy. That front end makes a great statement. Looks like a standard Bonneville tank.

Kinda reminds me of the T-Bird Adventure except for the larger front tire.

Bet they make a floorboard-windscreen version and call it America. Just my guess.

Since the cruiser class has it's own following another marketing tour with this and the new Rocket would be interesting.

One can hope.

like it too.I'm not a fan of white piping on seats and blacked out lower fork legs but that's just my opinion and minor details.I like the overall look of the bike.

Let's hope it's not the Bobber tank @ 2.4 gallon......

Like the tank and can tolerate the forks....don't want a softail...sorry, if you're taking cues from Meriden Triumph it's all T140v till you reach the saddle then suddenly it's 1954 again.
And what's the engine capacity please?Anyone know if it's 900 or 1200?

Wasn't the spy pic a 1200 Mike? The article w the pic said it was close to production so hopefully it will be the 1200. I got the impression there are going to be 2-3 variants. There could be an entry model 900 Cruiser too later on.

At the base of the engine cylinders appear to be a (1200), on the Speedmaster spy pic.

I like it from that angle but I wonder how bad that radiator looks from the front. Dual disc again I like, spokes I like. Short fat mufflers I do not like. Looks like knee indents again, like that. Not a fan of gaiters. I like the look of the fake monoblock carbs and points cover. Is there anything under that fake point cover? I like the plug on the sprocket cover like the old bikes tranny fill plug. I like the fake? exhaust clamps, I assume they bolt on like the last generation does. I would like longer fatter fenders, nicer looking mirrors. A tach would be nice too, looks like just a speedo. I think the steep price will hurt the bobber and any other off shoots of the Bonnie line. The $5,000 I paid for my SM is max of what I would ever pay for a bike. Thanks to Hermy for hooking me up with that deal! $5,000 only 700 miles on it and over a year warranty left on it.

I agree Al,I'd prefer twin shocks.I'd prefer a skinnier front wheel .Actually I'd prefer them just to stick that motor in a Speedmaster/America frame but that's not going to market them I guess.I'm still very interested.

Every bike isn't going to have everything each person wants. Triumph I think, expect these new cruisers will be customized. Almost every Cruiser owner I know has done some mods. Usually starting w exhaust pipes. I read a review of the Bobber and they said it handles up to Triumph expectations despite having a mono shock. As far as the tire I think you probably could find a way to put a slimmer tire on there, Paul. I'm just glad they kept the SM name and hope they keep the America name on a different Cruiser. I'm not crazy about the idea of a 900 America though w that 1200 engine being available. I bet the next version won't be available for a year. I hate to wait since I have very little patience.

It looks more like an America with the silver engine casings, spoke wheels and fat front tire. Handlebars are also more America'ish.

Engine is definitely the 1200. I'd prefer black engine casings.

I like the fat front tire, I was wondering what diameter the wheel is. I was going to do a long front springer on the hardttail I am building but lately have been leaning to a short front springer with a 16" wheel and fat front tire and somewhere around 10" to 12" apes with a big round headlight maybe 8".

Yes as I said Paul they're very minor nit-picks.Iagree about the 900-1200 and the fact it'll probably be another year coming but I'm very interested.

The more I look at the "smuggled pic" if in fact that's what it really is. I see the same small tank that's on the Bobber. Same design, same gap from the tank to the seat. If that's the case it's a major flub IMO.

Look's like the rear fender/mud guard is off the T120 along with the grab rail. New rider and passenger seat. Chrome vs polished exhaust. Fatter front tire with dual disc and different bars and mirrors, along with forward foot controls.
Bobber to compare

I think the tank is bigger than the bobber. It looks like the old style with the indents America tank to me.

No, it only has a gas cap on top, no dash or indent for one and not as wide at the front.

I'm starting to wonder if this is a sort of mock-up to see what works, what doesn't.

It's a fat tire Bobber with forward controls and a back seat. Surprised everyone isn't in an uproar about the other bike Triumph has in the "spy" picture.

Pirated photo from a Chicago private showing. I'm sure it's nothing Triumph wanted released. Most likely a dealers back room. I imagine that individual will not have that opportunity in the future.

Funny, and unless I've overlooked someone here mentioning it already in this thread, but I'm somewhat surprised no one has yet mentioned or has complained about the fork rake not being more kicked out on this new Triumph cruiser model than it is over the standard new Bonneville models?

That aspect of our Americas and Speedmasters being one of the definitive distinctions between them and the previous generation of the standard Bonneville line.

And here I would've thought this aspect of the new bike would have been one of the very first things to have been noticed and commented upon and perhaps even complained about by this cruiser oriented crowd around here.

(...and of course, while the steeper rake of this new Speedmaster would allow it to be a quicker handler in the twisties than the ones owned by those of us around here, I've never gotten the impression that quick handling is all that important an issue with the majority of the BA.com membership)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
