Anyone going to watch the Eclipse on Monday? Tulsa is not too far from the path. Might try to find some of those little paper sun glasses and have a glance. The next one is in 2045. I'll probably be dead so this could be my last chance.

If you can't get the glasses, you can use 2 pieces of paper. Poke a tiny hole in one and use it as a pinhole camera to project an image of the sun onto the other paper. I've used that for the last 2 or 3 eclipses and it works well.
My luck is holding true, we have a forecast of thunderstorms for monday.

Those in the direct path better have their tin foil hats made up, those Moon Shadows are mighty powerfull and even spawned one of the dumbest hits from the 70s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gvyjJBeh50
#14 welding glass is suggested if making the pin hole device is too complicated or if you happen to have an h-alpha telescope in your man cave use it.
Welding helmet for me.I don't know what shde it is but I have an adjustable one and one you can't see anything through unless you strike an arc. Should be about a 75% eclipse here. My telescope has an attachment to view the sun but it is buried in my attic.

I heard it is welding lens #13. I ordered the glasses about 6 weeks ago and got them on on the 12th. Wife and I are heading to St Joseph Monday morning.

The best place to watch it is on the TV and and there you can wear those special X-ray glasses ordered from the inside back page of a comic book and look right into the sun!
If you are on the direct path of the total eclipse you can time it to walk out and look right at the moon without glasses for a short period of time to observe the corona around it. It doesn't last long maybe 7 minutes so know schedule. That would be something to see!
My selfdarkening helmet won't work since it doesn't darken from the sun. I dug my telescope out with the solar screen but I can only find one lens, I hope it's the right one.

We drove down to St Joseph but it rained. We got a few looks at the partial eclipse but during the totality it was very cloudy and raining. I must admit, the clouds got some really strange colors and it got very dark but we missed the best part. But I did get a tshirt!
Hey, we get another chance in seven years.

Took a ride with a group from my buddies bike shop, went into southern Illinois to a farm and watched the totality. It was pretty amazing to see. 10/10, will watch again
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.
It was cloudy here. Got to see the dragon bite a chunk out of the edge. Then it started cooling down and more clouds formed and blotted out the whole thing.

Here it clouded over just before the event but I could see the sun through clear spots when it started. Just as it began the sky cleared off and was clear blue sky for the whole event. Then it clouded up and we had thunder storms.

We were in NC that day. I was more interested in people watching. Somebody decided to put on a fireworks display during the eclipse. That was cool. As was watching the commercial properties lights come on during the day. What can I say, I'm easily amused.
