I've got his "best of" album. He was pretty likable, except when he was with Tanya Tucker.

He was a fantastic guitarist.
As a young boy hearing his classics, Wichita Lineman, By the Time I Get To Phoenix and Gentle On My Mind playing through a cheap AM radio in my room late at night I was carried away to some wonderful places. RIP Mr Campbell

"The Wrecking Crew (sometimes called the Clique or the First Call Gang, occasionally credited as the Phil Spector Wall of Sound Orchestra) was a loose-knit circle of Los Angeles' top studio session musicians whose services were constantly in demand during their heyday in the 1960s and early 1970s. Usually playing collectively in varying configurations, often anonymously, they backed dozens of popular acts on numerous top-selling hits of the era. They are now widely considered one of the most successful session recording units in music history.
Though Glen Campbell became better known as a highly successful country music artist in his own right, he played guitar in the Wrecking Crew during the 1960s and appeared along with them on several of the Beach Boys' classics of the period such as "I Get Around" and "Help Me Rhonda".[80] In 1965 he toured with the Beach Boys, and in 1966 he and the Wrecking Crew played on the Pet Sounds album.[81][nb 4] Campbell enlisted the Wrecking Crew as a backup unit on many of his own solo records during the 1960s, such as on "Gentle on My Mind", and on two songs written by Jimmy Webb, "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" and his single "Wichita Lineman".[83]"

I heard a snippet of an interview on the the radio with Dolly Parton. She said how he often appeared as a session musician "he could play anything"

Like you said Mike. The man could play a guitar. It's kind of sad to me that sometimes you don't remember how much you really like an artist until they pass away and start listening to some of their music again.

There's a really good documentary on campbell called "I'll be me". It has some retrospective material but was filmed mostly after he was well into dementia. It was touching to see how he was cared for and how he stayed pretty happy even as the confusion grew. I was dealing with my own mother's illness at the same time so maybe it was special for me but i think anyone who liked campbell would enjoy the video. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2049586/Also: Cheesy rhinestone cowboy video but the song is great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kAU3B9Pi_U&list=RDEM5Z7LdAQhPpaGVhL0qnTCQw

Webb wrote some really great songs, but then he also wrote "MacArthur Park". Pure suck!

An outstanding performer with a lot of great tunes. I really admired him for his goodbye concert tour, that took a lot of guts.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I'll look for it on Netflix or one of the streaming sites, from the promotional video it looks well worth it.

Interesting. Glen Campbell and The Beach Boys. I would have never considered that. He was definetly multi talented and drew people together from both rock and country.

There is a very good Documentary about the Wrecking Crew, called "The Wrecking Crew". It is still on Netflix if you have it. The Wrecking Crew recorder almost every 1960's TV theme song. At one point the Wrecking Crew recorded an album a day for 7 weeks straight.
