This is in regards to my 2000 Thunderbird I've mentioned elsewhere in the forum.

After a few long (and rather spirited) rides Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I've noticed an oil leak each morning after. After getting home and upon further inspection, it appears to be coming out of the left carburetor.

I'm wondering if this could be caused by too much oil. The oil was just changed before the ride (by the dealer no less), and this was my first time really taking it out after that.

Check the crankcase vent. Dunno about the oil coming out of the carburetor, it's not connected to the case.

I'd bet the crankcase vent runs to the airbox and you have too much oil.

Well if that's the case, it just adds insult to the insult to injury of the whole ordeal.

The dealer charges $170 for an oil change, and then over fills it to boot? Potentially damaging the engine?

Actually makes me wonder if maybe they didn't have the filter in stock (but charged me for it anyway), but still used the full amount. Either that or they just poured in all 4 quarts they charged me for.

Ugh ... so should I just try draining some out? Or suck it up and do a full drain/refill.

Get the bike level and check the sight glass on the case. Ought to be a low and high mark and you should be between those, then you can assess the need to remove. It doesn't take much over to make an engine puke a little bit of oil, some older bikes will evacuate as much as a pint before they're happy. If it were me, I'd open the air box and clean up the mess before it ruins the air filter.

Why are you letting a dealer touch your bike anyway?
