Just got back from a 1500 mile two up tour to Scotland....bike of course was perfect...but, oh that LT screen! Given its far too tall, even for me at 6'3", it still manages to be as useless as a chocolate tea pot. As well as being a funnel for the elements so that these hit my chest and top of my head,it reflects all the tank top and speedo chrome work onto the screen at eye level...and the perspex is too thin so the whole lot shimmys like some of my younger years drug fuelled experiences. Recently I bought the factory option short screen blade...and this is far too short. I'm especially miffed as the only thing I liked about my late unlamented Thunderbird LT was the way they got the screen just right....not too tall but very effective. Oh well,at least I went to Scotland and back and didn't get wet the whole weeks trip.

As useless as a chocolate teapot! i like that one. I've never rode my Speedy with a windshield. i don't really go any distance when i ride though. My Seca Turbo has a full fairing and the wind hits me right on the top of my helmet. Personally i don't like windshields but that's just me.

I have never used a windshield either but I do ride long distances when I can. I feel if you want a windshield drive a car!

Fast Eddie sold me the Memphis Shades setup I use for trips. I bought the tallest screen they offered, and it is slightly tinted. I added the lower deflectors, as well. I like it. It does cast reflections at times. But, it is fairly stable at speed, and side winds do not move you about much. I highly recommend it.

I know.....and I usually ride without a windshield...but I was on a 1500 mile trip to Scotland and needed to cover 500 motorway miles quickly to get up there.....seemed a good idea not to get wind blasted at those speeds.

The lower deflectors make all the difference in the world.

Make you're own from Plexiglass or something similar. I knew a guy who made a small front fairing from a plastic trash can lid ( dust bin) and it looked good with it already being black. Amazing what people come up with.

Well you all know what I always say. It's no coincidence that windshield and wussy start with the same letter...

I know, Olde Beane, it goes deeply against the grain....but then I got old. A friend of mine, long dead and long ago, used to proudly proclaim that he'd ' rather eat worms than ride a Jap bike.' Came the day he bought a Yamaha xs 650, he promptly painted on the tank 'Here's my worms.'

Friar John was a big fan of Windvest windshields. I never got around to trying one. After trans versing Wyoming East to West, I'm not sure about any windshield. Un intentional lane changes freak me out.

Don't get me wrong...most times the windscreen stays in my attic...I often do a 500 mile round trip from Kent to Devon and back in a couple of days...no need for a screen...but on such a trip as to the west coast of Scotland, the motorway is pretty unexciting riding and it's a good idea just to open the throttle and get it over with...in which case several hours riding at 90 tends to leave me with a pretty sore neck without a screen. But, Jeez, it's an ugly thing though, I have to admit.

The original Triumph Summer Screen was a disaster as well.

After the first 20K miles I put a National Flyscreen on my '04 Speedy - for the looks. It provides far more protection than I would have ever imagined.
Well, they went and tapered the upper fork shrouds somewhere down the line, so National quit making the flyscreen for Triumph.
I had a Roadster screen on the '09, and it sucked in many ways. No air behind it, hot or cold - my issues were more to do with trying to keep my face shield clear on my full-face. I didn't care for the looks of the Dart, so I sprung for the Summer Screen, and I could live with that - but the tiny Flyscreen on the '04 still did a better job (still does).

You can swap the upper fork shrouds over to make the windshields mount up. That is what I did on my '07 BA.

Memphis Shades in the US. Lowers are about $25. Colours too ! Match your shoes, jacket or Mrs' handbag! Import and VAT shouldn't be too much based on that price. Either that or get 'P' clips and fab some

I'll try them direct but so far I can't source these for the later shrouds.

You won't find mounts for the tapered fork covers. You must buy the early style covers, and mounts for that year range of bike.

I have shrouds you can have for postage, I abhor them, so I have a rick of them cluttering up the joint.

I had a 02-160,000 miles now a 06 and in Florida we have Lovebugs & Blind Mosquitoes. They do not taste good, coat glasses and face. Do not open mouth till you wash face first.
I was so much older then, I am younger than that now (Wrote By Dylan Sung by the BYRDS,)
