After riding my America today, I noticed that my clutch feels like it needs adjusting (the lever feels kinda loose and disengages really close)...now I'm no mechanic and I also don't have a shop manual...can anybody tell me how to adjust it? I see a couple of bolts down near the primary...which way should I loosen or tighten? Please help....

Lee,
Usually, you just need to tighten the cable. If the cable is really loose, you'll need to make an adjustment near the "primary" but if it just needs a small adjustment you can adjust it at the clutch handle. The specs are in the owners manual. Basically, you just want to screw out the adjuster at the handle to make the housing "longer". This will take the slack out of the cable. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks O4, I'll get out my owner's manual and try your advice this evening.

I found my bike reluctantly going into first gear at slow speed. I made a small adjustment at the lever which resolved the problem.

I think you're supposed to shoot for about 3 mm movement at the lever before resistance is felt.
