I want to paint my cam cover yellow to match the yellow of my black & yellow tank. Does anyone know if I can buy a can of spray paint that will match. It doesn't have to be exact but should be pretty close.

No need to paint it! Triumph is actually offering a yellow cam cover as part of there "Sixty8" accessory line. They have clear sprocket covers as well.....seriously. I'm sure the triumph bits will be pricey.
I've seen black, grey and red engine paint at O'reilly's, but not yellow. You might find it online somewhere.

Not sure which yellow it is, but Triumph has the paint codes listed on their website. Once you get the right code, I hear you can take it to a paint distributor and get some made up in an aerosol can. That'd be your best bet to get a sure match anyway. You might check with Brent and see what he's done. On his site for the low profile seat, there's a bumble bee Speedmaster with a yellow seat bolt, and yellow clamps on the intake rubbers that looks like a close match. Don't know if that's his bike though, but I know he has a yellow Speedmaster. Sometimes he'll use other people's pics of their bikes on his site.

The yellow bits on Brent's bike were powder coated.

I checked with a paint supplier for factory matching paint. It is available, but quite pricy! I was quoted $125/gal. I don't think you'll find anything close in a spray can, but I may be wrong. It happened once!

Hey Chris,
I was thinking of your bike when I saw this thread, but I know you haven't been posting much lately. It is a deeper, darker yellow than you'll find in most off the shelf rattle cans.

Thank you to everyone who responded. What I think I will do is... there is a auto body shop not far from me and they also specialize in motorcycle powder coating. I will take it to them and see if they can match the paint and let them handle it. If it ain't too expensive.

I was pretty surprised at some powder coating prices I've heard on here before, not too bad.

If you're only looking for something in a spray can, check out your closest hobby shop or even Walmart for the model paints. Testors and others make small cans of colors that would probably be close enough to count, and at $2 a can or so, you can test it on scrap before the real thing to see if the dried color is close enough.

Would ordinary paint work on the cam cover. I figured it would need high temp engine paint.

I'd definitely go with High Temp paint, and you might be able to find a few choices online. Color matching will be a challlenge... but at a couple bucks a can, you can buy a few and test paint something. Here's just one of a bunch of sites I found just "Googling" "High Temperature Spray Paint"... Caswell VHT PaintGood luck!
