I've started reading 'Zen & the art of motorcycle maintenance' about three times and about three times I've got distracted away from finishing it.
I promise, one day, to find time to finish it.

It's a little more cerebral than Motorcycle Maintenance for Dummies.

I read it once and its "out there" a little bit. Good book and very cosmic/zen with instances you can relate to in your own personal experiences.

Oh dear, this makes me the oddity....I've read it twice...once when it came out and more recently a couple of years back.
I actually liked it a lot....even making allowances for my suspicion that some of it was a convoluted way of him making sense of his own mental health issues.
One thought sticks even today
I paraphrase..."Who are the makers going to take off the production line to organise the workshop manual? Is it the guy who really knows how to build the things? No, it'll be the guy who's not going to be missed much when he's not making engines."
I sure hope he was wrong with that one

Based on some of the manuals I've used, he hit the nail on the head

I really like the first half of the book. Then it just becomes kind of a slog.
