So rather than do it myself, i had a local mechanic rebuild my forks and I'm glad i did. no air tools, id still be at it! Anyway, now that im rebuilding, i remember tearing off the pegs to inspect for damage. Im ashamed to say i do not remember how the brake peg goes on. is there a good reference? no info in the manual. seems fairly straightforward but I could still screw it up. i took it apart 6 months ago. little help? thanks yall!

Get the factory manual and the Haynes. You'll have no trouble putting it back together again. No matter how long it's been since you took it apart

I have a Haynes manual. I have not found the Triumph one. The Haynes is a pain to read, but it gets the job done. I use a highlighter alot in it.
Thing that freaks me the most is some of the torque settings. It would be very easy to over tighten things without it.
The America is really an easy bike to work on. Except that bolt on the front sprocket. That bugger is tight.

A Electric Impact works for me every time, I just don't like listening to my air compressor.

Yup I have the factory manual. I have a haynes downloaded one as well that's ok. Still cannot find any info on the parts I'm struggling with. Anyway, I guess I have a warped *kickplate. I don't know the proper name of this part, but it's the plate that connects the rear master to the footrest. I can't be the hangers, or the tab that holds them to the frame, could it? I can't run it with the rubber against the engine like that, but the new brake pedal does work. The plate looks pretty jacked up, see for yourself. Hopefully these links work. Does anyone know the name of this part so I can replace it? Thanks again guys! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B74NClIA05dkcFg2Nzl1OVRGODQ/view?usp=sharinghttps://drive.google.com/file/d/0B74NClIA05dkY0RsQzEtNFhhNmM/view?usp=sharing

The mirror images are a bit confusing, but it looks like you need to call PinWall in Ohio and start fresh with a unbent mount. They will confirm with you, you are getting what you need by emailing you pictures of what you're buying, at least they did for me, anyway. http://pinwallcycle.com/

By mount do you mean the plate, or the footrest hangers? I purchased a set of hangers from them last August and it doesn't fit my bike. Maybe an 8th inch wider. bastards. Anyway, I think it is the plate. If I knew the name of the part it would make it much easier. Scoured Pinwall for it no dice. I've seen them on Ebay in the past. What's it called Damnit!?!?!

Refer to #s 3 & 4 for the clarity you seek. web page The next time you can't land mounting bolts, look and see what you can safely loosen to get the wiggle room you need to start the bolts. The footrest hanger mounts to two loosen able sub frame pieces, you only needed to move each one an 1/16th" to get the mount bolts started. Then wind it all up back to tight.

I definitely wouldn't have guessed "Clevis" in a million years. Thank you for all of your help Ryk. I actually found this part under "bracket" on Ebay and it'll be here in a week.
As I said, the hangars look good, and I'd be surprised if they warped. Everything's flush, if there was a bend it bent the tabs on the frame as well. I have a set from a 05 that won't get behind the headers. Might fit if I took the headers off, but the bolt holes look to be off a millimeter or so as well.
Fingers crossed for the road in 2 weeks!

The next time 125 thousandths of an inch prevents you from mounting something, get out your rat tail file or as I previously mentioned, look for something you can take loose to land/start your fasteners.

In this case it looks like the hangers themselves on the 05 are a little more than 1/8 inch longer, and may be an issue with the pedal. For now I'll wait on the bracket and if it comes to it, I'll take off the headers and try the 05 hangers. Either way this bike's going back on the road!
