I know how youse guys look forward to my movie reviews so here's the latest. Just came back from the latest King Arther telling, "Legend of Excaliber". Might as well have called it "King Fred and His Magic Sword". The plot basically had nothing at all to do with the story of King Arther. Just throw in a mention of "Merlin", and a magic sword named "Excaliber" with the main character named Arther and you have pretty well exhausted any connection between this stinker movie telling and the original wonderful legend. There have been quite a few movies done on the subject, including the worst, starring Connery and his cardboard clad knights, but the only one that even came close was the movie "Excaliber" from the 70s. Its a shame somebody can't do a good King Arther movie, cause the original legendary story is great.

"Excaliber" was IMHO a great movie.

So far as I'm concerned all the stories are just that. The real Arthur is likely to have been Artorius Ambrosianus...a sixth century warlord in the post Roman chaos of England. Son of Aurelius Ambrosianus...who himself is likely to have provoked the original Saxon invasion by refusing to contribute to a common defence of the various petty kingdoms in England. at the time. But I doubt all that would make for good cinema.

I agree, in all likelihood the real Arthur was probably the last Roman war duke of Britian (Dux Bellorum Britainica) with a far less charming story that of the much later Canterbury tales.

Most movies now are a senseless series of juxtaposed plotless segments which make no sense. I think movies are made for Millennials who don't care, they just want to see something cool, or fantasy crap or stuff that blows up in pyrotechnic splendor.

And as for Camelot? You can take your pick of over a dozen proposed sites in England, Wales and even Scotland. But forget the notion of a Disney castle...it would have been a refortified/ reused Iron age Hillfort. My favourite candidate for this being Cadbury Castle in Somerset.......which was originally trashed by Vespasian in AD 49ish and refortified in 6th century as the headquarters of a warlord.....excavated in 1966 and some circumstantial evidence of Arthurian occupation found. Impressive place to walk around even if there weren't any pointy roofed turrets.

On the other hand I went and saw Guardians 2 last night and give it a 3.5 out of 5.
Not bad for a sequel and was fun to watch.
Thanks for the review sounds like I will skip Arthur.
Hoping Wonder Woman is good As far as I am concerned she stole the show in Batman vs Superman.
The new Mummy movie looks cool.

Hollywierd hasn't been creative in decades.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

You know, that reminds me. Was Arthur, son of Uther Pendragon, really the lawful king, or just some cleaver boy who extracted the sword from a rock by using WD40?

No, but Thomas Mallory who first concocted the sword in stone twaddle in 13th century, did so whilst imprisoned on remand for an alleged sexual assault. Not sure I'd place much value on his word.

Most reviews I've read of this new movie are negative. Granted the story of King Arthur is fantasy, but for my money the 1981 "Excalibur" is the best with a great cast.
