Yes, but it's a bear to get off yourself, especially on aluminum. I had some black passenger peg mounts I wanted chromed, so I proceeded to "assist" the chrome shop by sanding the black off myself. I gave up pretty quick and let them do it.

Also I was thinking, paint stripper might work, but the methylene chloride or 1,1,1, triclorethane that's in it will eat aluminum.

I bet aircraft stripper would work. I need to strip the clear coat off my Scrambler covers and I've seen that listed as something that works.

That's the answer then. Send them to the chrome shop. Thanks.

I powder coat the foot peg relocation kits i sell and bake them at 450F in the oven i use. You can remove it by putting the oven on a cleaning cycle which will burn it off into ash. I have my own oven to do this, so don't try it with your kitchens oven unless you have a very understanding wife.

I use a kitchen oven that was junk being thrown out for it. I keep the old oven out back and hang the parts by wire from the oven racks, it works well.Only problem is size is limited.

One member years ago stripped his forks and polished them to look like the old Bonnies. He used aircraft stripper bought at Walmart.

Powder coat comes off much easier if heated.
