I've noticed over the years that all my bikes seem to run better after they've been taken for a good long ride then left to cool a bit whilst coffee is employed. On restarting things are smoother and responses seem better. I presume it's something to do with the opportunity for it to attain a more even heat distribution around the engine. Any other theories?

It maybe just that you are running better after a caffeine hit.

I find my bike seems to take quite a few Kms to "loosen up",even after the "warming up" process I give it on start up.10 + kms into a ride the bike seems to say "Ok I'm limbered up now,Let 'er rip!" I have noticed what you've described,I think it's more of the same. The oil flowing freely,The moving parts loosened up and thoroughly lubricated etc.

I do believe the bike runs better after warming up, but that is not it. It is you. After you have been riding you have reached that point of motorcycle ZEN. That point where your mind and body are one with the bike. You and the bike are one. Your body and mind become one with the pulse of the engine, the feel of the throttle, the tires on the road. You are in motorcycle heaven. Every time I ride and take a short break and then climb back on the bike it just feels right.

Long high speed run and quick shut down equals clean spark plugs. It's the typical stop and go riding and idling to get to the garage that usually fouls thing up before shut down.
