Who has the best prices on the Corbin seats?
I have not found many retailers who have the America listed.
Ma's Cycles offers the solo for $359.00, $20.00 less than MSRP, and the pillion for MSRP at $239.00.

Check out the classifieds forum.

PeteD has some things for sale and one of them is a Corbin seat.

Heard the seat height would be a bit lowered with the Corbin seat but the width would more then obstruct any advantage, Can you tell where this is leading? Looking to lower the seat, so as to reach the ground with more then my toes........

I didn't really notice any difference in height once I got the Corbin but I can easily flat foot this bike anyway. You might want to consider the -1" Ikon shocks.

I got a Corbin pushed forward (an inch) and with a "nosejob" to narrow the front. I would not advise the nosejob. Makes it seem like you are sitting on a point. In fact, I am having them undo the nosejob, which they do for free if it is within a year. The seat is otherwise great.

Matt,
I have the same question. Does the backrest actually contact your back in a normal riding position? Hopefully somebody out there can give us an answer.

I had a gel insert put in my seat last year. it doesn't work very well. I can go for about 45 minutes before my back starts bothering me and my but gets numb. The gel insert doesn't change the seating position.I used Butt-Buffer. Waste of $$. So this year I think I will have to spring for the Corbin. Motorcycle Cruiser magazine shows the Mustang seat the most comfotable, but I don't think there is one made for Triumphs.

James,

It is my impression that Corbin prices don't vary much. I ordered a seat and solo backrest through Ma's last winter, at the same list as the Corbin website mentions. Bob over at Ma's was very helpful and knows his stuff. Last week I ordered a p-pad and backrest to match directly from the company. I went direct because I am getting the tall backrest (part # 225) for the sissy bar. I previously attached a 10" tall aluminum plate to the Triumph sissy bar for an extension, like Redz has. I had something specific questions on fit as this sissy bar backrest isn't a Triumph sized part for Corbin.

Solo seat backrest support? Yes, it's in contact all the time as you can adjust the height and forward/backward tilt. I ended up leaving it on all the time, but in some respects the bike's lines are nicer without it on.

Hope this helps. Ride Safe, unless it's -10F!

john

Matt,

The backrest is worth every penny. My only gripe is that over the past two years as I dragged my leg over the top, I wore away the leather near the seam on the very top. I guess Corbin can fix it if I send it in. Wish there was some sort of plastic cap I could put just on the top of the backrest.

Freedom is about 15 feet tall so he has no such issues. I'm short, squat and not very flexible.

I thought you could remove the backrest and then put it back once aboard?

Or is that too much of a PITA?

I bought mine directly from Corbin, had pics online in the old board= I'll try to figure out how to repost them. It's better than stock, but it's pretty hard= you got to get used to it.

Phil,

The backrest has a 'set' screw. Yes you could do as your thought suggests, but then the backrest would kind of 'float' within it's metal hole. It is a PITA to remove. The PITA is that you have to remove the saddle to do it. A N O T H E R thing about the Corbin saddle that I have never heard mention of is this:

Quote:

The fuse access cover cannot be removed for fuse access without removing the saddle. Sure, you can lift up the cover to access the fuses, but I could never fully remove the cover. The cover has a finger on the top of it that 'slide fits' into a slot. With the Corbin saddle in place I could not swing the cover upward enough to disengage this finger.

OK I can live with that issue. But changing a fuse without this issue is little finger work. So having the cover narrow the clearance due to non-removal, makes it little finger/narrow finger work, and night time creates an alien of you in that you need little, narrow fingers and three hands! Thank goodness for forehead flashlights!

I do like my Corbin saddlery.

PS: Dream Dictionary
Definition: Seeing a saddle in your dream, suggests that you need to freely pursue your goals. Do not let anyone hold you back from achieving goals. Dreaming that you are sitting on a saddle means that you will rise to a position of prominence and power.

I have a Corbin seat with the backrest. I don't like the look of the backrest.... but I love the ride. Great support, very comfortable.

I think I will buy the Corbin first without the backrest and give it a try. From the pics i have seen, I would rather do without the backrest.

Matt,

Got the backrest, and it works, especially when you're riding on the freeways with no windshield.

Matt,
I wrote Mustang to inquire about the Triumph America/Speedmaster. The reply I got was that they do not and will not have any plans for Triumph cruisers. I have a stock America seat and pillion which I plan on sending to Rick Mayer so he can rebuild it. He's about $140 cheaper than Corbin and everyone raves about his seats.
Personally, I can sit on anything for a short time. The key to avoiding monkey butt, is smooth (seamless, if you can find them) boxers made of cotton, silk or nylon and leather "riding" pants. I don't mean leather jeans. Riding pants, like the V-Pilot pants. Some equestrian suppliers have leather inserts in the back side that work well.
On long rides (over 100 miles) avoid blue jeans. I know, that's what I always wore too. Blue jeans have thick seams in all the wrong places and the texture of denim closely matches the pattern of nerve endings around our hind end.
With the leather slacks I wear, I can sit on that saw horse
saddle that Triumph gave us for 3 tanks of gas before I need a break.

Dennis, Does Rick Mayer have a web site? How about his phone #? I need a seat that won't give me a back ache in 45 minutes. As I wrote before, I sent my seat to Butt-Buffer and had a dry gel pad put in. It helped a little but not enough for the money. Let me know how your seat works out.

I went to Rick Mayers website. He charges $479.00 in leather. It's about $100 more then Corbin but he custom makes each seat.

The corbin seat / backrest is the single best addition to the bike that I have made. It makes all the difference on longer rides. Be advised that it takes at least 1,000 miles for the seat to break in. At first I was disappointed with the purchase, but now that it is broken in I would not trade it for anything.

Moe has studs. Looks real sharp.

How about this? Some cash just came into our life and the boss gave the green light to a Corbin setup. Getting the main seat, backrest and pillion seat. I have read numerous posts concerning the variety of options so I am going to call them tomorrow and discuss these. Man, I am STOKED!!!!!!!!!

Hi Matt,
I was looking at the dual seat. Mine and my Bride's seat in leather will be $140 cheaper than Corbin. I am thinking of using the Palomino color leather. Will that look good on a Red bike? I like the idea. I am still trying to find matching leather pants and jacket in brown or tan. Black leather is just too boring to me, and I am tired of it.

Someone on the site had a tan colored seat. It looked different anyway...I looked on his website. You must be getting a discount. On the main page it has the price in leather as $479.00.

Phil keep us posted, cause I have an idea for some custom stitching. I know they do the flame seat thing, which I think is real cool, but it would be the ONLY bit of flame on my bike, so wondering if they do custom patterns too.

So do I. I think that would look fantastic. I've been thinking of going with Rick Mayer myself.

Hi Benny,

Here's a couple pics of Vera before both the Sissy bar pad and the easy bracket installations.

When I take a pic of Vera in her full Corbin attire with the cleaner look of the easy bracket studs, I'll post it to my gallery. I really gotta learn to tke the keys out......

James,

You might want to ask your dealership if they give RAT members a discount. I know my dealership “Clinton Cycles” in Maryland offers RAT members a 10% discount on parts and accessories. I ended up buying mine through the dealership got the discount and had my seat within a couple of weeks. By the way, once you break the seat in (usually takes about 1,200-1,800 miles it is the most comfortable seat you will ever ride on. When I did my ride last July, straight shot from Maryland to Tampa, Fl and only stopping for gas and a quick bite to eat, the Corbin made the ride enjoyable. Best investment I’ve made for the scooter.

Hi James and everyone else,
Ebay items "4520958867" & "4520958911" are being offered by ebay seller "mbk111" (or M&M Cycles) at a buy it now price of $303 plus $30 shipping. This total of $333 is a good price. However, don't be fooled by the title, which is: "Classic Solo&Pillion for 2002-2003 Triumph Speed Master". This price is the solo seat only.

Got my Corbin for my BA last week from the factory. $379 plus $20 shipping. Put about 250 miles on it since. Very firm, but that is what you need for long rides. It did seem that it moved me a bit forward on the bike, though, that doesn't bother me. Also, Corbin told me it would take about 2-3 weeks. Imagine my surprise when it arrived in 5 days! They must've had someone back out on a deal as I was informed they don't stock them. Bottom line: $$ well spent. HeliPilot.

I finally bit the bullet and spent the money for the Corbin seats. We got the driver, passenger, and backrest. Well, it was money well spent. With the driver seat I can now ride all day and with the new passenger seat and backrest my wife says it's like riding a new bike!. Wouldn't give them up for nothing!. Yes, they are $$$$ but worth it!

Plunked down the cash and the new Corbin seats shoud be here in about 3 weeks!

I got the seat, backrest, pillion, and sissybar backrest. Like Pat, I got the chrome studs. Also did plain black welting.

I had them do what they called a DT stitch. My wife says it kinda' looks looks like bones...

Phil,

How do you know what extras they can do? I go to there website and all they have under the Triumph section is the seat itself to order with pillion and backrest. Where are the choices for stitching and stuff?

When you go to the Corbin site, look at General Info page. They have many, many options. I cannot remember exactly where in there I found that stitching.

I also called them and had a long talk. Very friendly and very helpful.

My impression is the seat made the motorcycle handle much better,...... before everybody on the forum starts laughing I will just say that when leaning into curves I felt better "planted" on the motorcycle, more comfortable, thus I was able to manage the SpeedMaster much better.

I have been made a believer for the long-haul comfort that Corbin provides. The "gel" seats may feel good when first sat on, - but for the long-hauls the "gel" is lacking in the comfort dept.

Follow the link.

"Speedmaster" is a title not a name, - and the title is not plural.
