I've known a few collectors and while they may own fine examples of various cars they always have one favorite that they drive more than the rest, and if it came down to it that car would be the one they would never sell off.
Regarding the tight riding position of modern sport bikes it isn't age and condition because I've ridden with young people in great shape that are stretching out their back after just 30 minutes of being balled up in that knees in your armpits crouch. No thanks.

At least in our bike purchases we can still pursue our own prejudges with out Government intervention. I myself would like to have a Triumph Bobber,Indian Scout and a Sportster Roadster all in my garage. Alas not likely to happen.

[ . Kind of like having a 1959 Cadillac in the same garage as your Porsche replica.
Count me as having eclectic tastes also. I like them BOTH! In my garages I have tiny lil British sports cars alongside a huge 48 Chrysler. And I have a Polaris Indian right next to a 58 Cushman, right next to a Triumph. I like MOST things, and I even can admire the lines of crotch rockets. That's one of the things I like about this site and it's members, reasonable, eclectic taste. How many of you know bikers with their Harleys that spout out "everything else is shoite?" Just about every Triumph rider I ever knew loves all kinds of stuff.

Harley Davidson's all new 2018 Softails bring more power, up to 35 pounds less weight, a stiffer chassis, improved lean angles and suspensions and some major style changes. Here's a pretty good first impression article. But of course all of the Harley haters who had demanded these changes still bash the bikes in the comments without ever seeing one in person much less ride one. Note the big rear shock adjustment knob in front of the right side cover. LINK.

Well, I wouldn't be one of those "bashers" here, OB.
Nope, I have to say that those are some good looking machines there, and with the reported weight-loss, more power and a greater lean-angle than ever before, I'll bet these new and latest examples of the ubiquitous Harley-Davidson motorcycle will be pretty fun to ride too!
(...the operative word in my above sentence of course being "ubiquitous"...and as in "every other swingin' dick out there already owns an H-D")
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Somebody please tell me what the acceptable crankshaft run out is these days on Harley's...last time I checked it was about 2 ft6 inches... It's that which puts me off in particular....just really poor engineering standards.

Now where the ****** am I?

WAIT now, Alan! You're sayin' here that a H-D motorcycle will STILL run IF the the crankshaft is out of round by 30 freakin' inches instead of just a few thousandths of an inch???
(...well HELL, I'd say somethin' like THAT would be pretty damn impressive, wouldn't ya say?!)

Don't know don't care, more interested in the 109 foot pounds of torque at only 3,000 RPM from just the standard 107 engine. The 114 makes a good bit more power than that.

Competition is good, The new Triumph engines have more bottom end torque and the new Harley's lost weight and have better lean angles. It's all Good !!

I suspect the run out to be the culprit for many mechanical problems....having your crankshaft sawing back and forth is not a great idea.

I have to say I like some Harleys but those 2 are not among them, 2 of the ugliest headlights I have ever seen! Other parts I don't care for too but those headlights!
