Another new body style Camaro tidbit... it uses a new kind of Freon also. No worries though, we have it in stock, only 118.00 a pound.

Strangely enough Electronics are the most failure prone part on modern cars.
And as modern cars have multiple computers, it's an expensive game fixing one. I've looked at many used modern cars thinking yeah, I'll treat myself then I think what if that fancy touch screen gizmo goes etc. I'd like a Jag. The XF looks nice. Fancy gear knob button rises out of the centre console when you start up. Thats never likely to stop working is it? After all, it's a Jag ...

Your reasoning is why I stopped buying BMWs, they went from the austere to the bells and whistles approach in the 80s. It's why I ordered my 93 Jeep Cherokee Sport with 4 doors, wings (vent windows) and no power windows, nothing that could break.
In contrast everytime it rains or is foggy all the warning lights come on in my 06 Ford Expedition. I usually keep a car forever, give it away and buy a new one.

One of the reasons I've had so many cars was that I always bought cheap old clunkers. If they broke and the repair was too expensive, buy something else (the other reason was I just wanted a change). More often than not, I changed the older cars not because they broke, but because I wanted something else. It's only really been these last 3-4 years I've paid high four-figures for a car. The 2010 300C I have now is a nice car but do I REALLY need a car that tips the mirrors down when I put it in reverse? There has got to be something said for a car that can be fixed on the side of the road where you only need a screwdriver, some tape and a hammer !

I had to laugh when you said" it won't break, it's a Jag", my immediate thought was it will because it is a Jag! Everything is going drive by wire and I hate it. No shift linkages or throttle linkages, it all depends on electronic and that breaks far more often that the old mechanical stuff.

I bought my first car in 1969 when I was 16. It was a 1961 Corvair 4 door with a two speed automatic. I paid fifty dollars for it. Over the next 3 years I bought three more cars, each for fifty dollars. I also sold each of them for fifty dollars, except for the Corvair, my mother took that one. Tires getting bald? Get another car! Funny noise from the engine? Get another car. I must admit I learned a lot about cars screwing with the fifty dollar variety. After all, when the worst you do is turn a running fifty dollar heap into a $25 salvage yard special, working on them yourself makes a lot more sense.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Yeah, that's why I finished it with dotdotdot. A friend of mine had an X-type Jag which seemed to spend more time being fixed than being driven!! Funny thing is, they were based on the undergubbins of a 1993-2006 Ford Mondeo (I think a Contour in the US). A favourite with sales reps cause they were cheap and pretty reliable. I've had a couple of Mondeos and weren't half bad cars - especially the one I paid £150 for. His Jag was POS.
And don't even get me started on Range Rovers

I was working in the service department when a blue 06 Mustang with 65000 miles rolled in off the "pre-owned" lot for service. I requested the job and found a cool little v6 5speed car with no light to tell me when to change my oil, check my tires or shift gears. It has a headlight switch that actually cuts off the headlights gets 24 mpg all day and is mega fun to drive... sold! still happy at 1480000 miles.. so good so far.
