Sorry Paul kinda got off track. It would be nice if Indian came out with a 14,000.00 bike. Prices are out of control.

Nice try, Dwight, but the one model all the lil Indians never quit talking about is a return to the 4 cyclinder model.

I would think it would be Rich, and seeing as how that prewar model would be another memorable one from the old Indian concern...and which btw, my father owned one just before he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942...a 1939 model, as I recall him telling me.
I once had a snapshot of him as a fresh faced young man sitting on it, but somehow misplaced it over the years. Would've loved to have had that picture blown-up to poster size and displayed in my garage.
But returning to my earlier thought and my suggestion of an Indian Chief sportin' a girder front end...
Something like that would cost Polaris a heck of lot less in R&D than would a clean-sheet four-cylinder model, now wouldn't it? A LOT less, in fact. And so as I said earlier, IF Indian wants to legitimately claim they have a "new" model out for sale, then something like this would seem a no-brainer from strictly a financial POV, wouldn't you say?!
And I'm sure it would sell! In fact, you know how I've been lusting after the Springfield recently, right?! Well, if Indian WOULD offer that model with a girder front end, that COULD just be the incentive I'd need to head down to Phoenix and plunk my money down for one. It being even MORE unique in the motorcycle world.
Well, just as long as there was little to no additional premium for its alternate front suspension, anyway.
(...'cause as you and many others have said here, $21K is already a hell of a lot money for a motorcycle)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

My friend is about to sell his 53 Hudson Hornet convertible to buy one of these. About $60,000 for a perfect restoration of a 1941 model.

Yep. If they fail to make the Indian 4 it'll be a darn shame.

Are you guys talking about the Henderson 4, The bike that was rebadged as an Indian? Or was it an Ace? Indian bought the rights to the 4 and did improve them, but was it really an Indian? I think the Triumph R3 has that market covered, sales of big bikes have slowed and I doubt there is room for 2 inline big inch bikes in the market place today. Fun to think about but probably won't happen.

One of my friends has one of these as an every day rider, in decent shape but not great. It's all original including the paint though.

You are correct that an inline 4 very likely would not sell. They can push all the power they need with a twin.
Indian bought Ace. Ace was designed my Mr. Henderson but was not a Henderson 4 because Schwinn owned all those patents. I think Indian altered the ACE a lot in the 30s. I am talking the Indian inline 4. The 41 was the last year and is sought after by collectors. It was also the most powerful.
Dog! In average condition I assume your friend knows he is using a very valuable bike as a daily rider. They even have one in the freaking Smithsonian! If he falls off, they should put the bike in the ambulance!

He knows, I have another friend who rides and old scout and chief depending on the day, also both all original. The scout is pretty rust, can hardly see the paint anymore. Another friend rides a 20s HD with exposed valve train, you can watch the pushrods and rockers go while running. And still another friend rides a 36 knuckle and my best friend at the time (he moved away) rode a stock 50 panhead EL.
I am not sure his is a 41 but it isn't rusty or dented, just faded and paint worn in a few places, he takes very good care of it. It's a matching numbers bike too.

Hanging out at the dealer yesterday and looking at the new Roadmaster Classic with tan leather trim I was told (1) Indian leather saddle bag is $1000.00 a piece. They have a top mount leather box. $1800.00 + $ 500.00 for the mounting bracket. Bawahaha

I was looking at it online. Nice bike, but still think for the money a Rocket Touring is one heck of a deal with some of the prices out there right now. You can get a lot of accessories with the $13,000.00 savings.

And that would be a DEAL compared to some of the replacement parts for Indian. Genuine Indian tubes for the tires? $90 per. Replacement handlebar switch unit? $750. Replacement fuel tank? $2000 will nearly cover it. Indian Corp. makes HD look honest by comparison!

big injuns are big $$$, scout 60 is the only fair priced bike IMO. tested a standard scout because l like the cruiser position on a smaller bike, but too small, poor brakes + suspension like sportsters + sheet OE Kenda tyres. pics look good but the Octane would be my choice with 17" wheels, suspension slightly better + same Sheet brakes + Kenda tyres. still looking for a midsize cruiser + a 1200 speedmaster would prolly work!!
