Just arranged to fit a set of long tors to my 014 TBA LT. To my surprise the dealer is charging far less than the Triumph brochure quotes......being a suspicious chap I'm wondering if this means they're using up the last of the stock items for the TBA.....prior to being production.

Well you could be right.I hope you're not but, it certainly has gone quiet on the BA/Speedy front. No word at all.

Hmmm.......I don't want to anticipate the demise of these fine bikes, but there haven't been any major model revisions for a while, there's a new favoured range of bikes and now this dealer( a nationally respected shop) is flogging off the family silver at knockdown prices. It has me almost hoping that they've just got the price wrong for my TOR's and that I'll be both shocked and relieved to find Im paying full price on Friday. Al

Maybe, just Maybe, they are blowing off the pipes because they won't fit the New 1200 B/S models. I'm the glass is half full kind of guy.

Surely if they were continuing the 865 line they wouldn't be running down stocks of aftermarket stuff? It'll be interesting to see the next year's model line up. Bet there's not an 865 in it.... Again, though, hope I'm wrong. It was just last weekend my buddy Clive and I were extolling the virtues of the bikes.....both of us have 1700 HD's but just don't use them anymore...when the TBA is good for everything we want and much more of a joy to ride, why would we get out the tractors?

As I have stated, and no one really knows, Triumph is upgrading all of their bikes based on the new pollution standards. It does not surprise me the current model is coming to an end. I would think that we will be seeing a new cruiser in 2017 or 2018 with the new 900 or 1200 water cooled engine. I am guessing 900 if the keep producing the T'Birds or a 1200 if they drop the T'Birds. If they were smart they would make an LT version and call it the America and a build for speed version called the Speedmaster. But no one really knows. I am thinking they have to complement the new Bobber with a 2 up Cruiser. ARE YOU LISTENING TRIUMPH.

If I were the boss of Triumph, I would introduce a new America and SM based on the new engines in early or mid summer and call them 2018 models. I still think there is a market for mid-size cruisers, even though it seems like Adventure bikes are taking over the mc world.

I agree...though I've just looked up the specs for the new 900 engine.....55bhp? Come on Triumph, aren't things supposed to improve with time and development?

less weight = more speed.
2017 Tri Street Cup 900, 440 lbs. 55 Hp, 59 Ft lbs torque 2017 HD 883 Iron, 540 lbs. 52 Hp, 53 Ft lbs torque *** I guessed on the Harley HP, not something they like to talk about or put in the spec sheet***
If you look at the Triumph website the only 17 model year cruiser listed is the Rocket. No Birds, No Speedys No Muricas

I took the Street Twin for a ride this last spring and if that is what 55hp can be I would buy it.

Look at Roadster and Supersports section. They are still selling 2015 models of the Street Triple and 675R
Its hard to sell for 2017 if you still have brand new 2015 models to move.

I would guess the 865 is being "run out".The water cooled bikes will take over. The 900 will replace the 865 but HOPEFULLY, they'll have cruisers.HOPEFULLY they wont just put the 900 engine in the BA/Speedy.HOPEFULLY there will be a 1200,but what would I know? Maybe they'll ditch the cruiser line altogether and revert back to their classics. I would say it all depends on what the US market wants.

I don't inherently have a problem with the 900 being 55 bhp.....but can this engine conceivably cut the mustard for two up riding? On the other hand I could always prepare myself for a new TBA by test riding the new twins and checking out for myself. But why go to all that bother when I can simply spout my untested opinions here instead?

The only complaint I have with the America is that the H.P. is so high up in the Rev band. A cruiser should have low end Torque, I believe the new engine are designed with better low end power, just as it should be.

I have ridden the new thruxton R and the power for the 1200 is definitely all low end. Loads of torque. It seems like it would be a excellent cruiser engine.
when I went to the unveiling of the new Triumphs show/party last month. there was some buzz about there being a 2 up version of the bonnie bobber in the works. Nothing confirmed of course. My take on it is the bobber is displacing the speedmaster and the 2 up version will displace the America. Both with the 1200. that's is just my guess at this.

When I dyno'd mine I had 56.4 HP at the rear wheel but my BA weighs 100Lbs plus more than the Street Twin. Then there's my large rotund self to contend with .I love my bikes looks.size handling etc.I am even almost satisfied with the engines power but a 1200 in the same format would blow my socks off.

I'd have no qualms about a bobber cruiser IF it was done "right" and IF the pricing wasn't crazy expensive.

I'm on board guys. If the Trumpy boys would build a new America/Speedmaster with the 1200. Go back to the early years 2002 style tank I'll buy one as I believe a lot of us would. That bike could probably be my last one. Problem is I have the feeling it's not going to happen.
My guess, "and it's only that" is the 2017 Triumph Cruiser line up will be the Bobber along with the Thunderbird LT ( they've invested a ton of money to shat can this after 3 model years) maybe the Commander and the 2017 Rocket.
2017 could be the last year for the Rocket, I've read it will only be available in the US. If you go to the Triumph UK home site the Rocket is not listed. On the Triumph US website a 2017 Rocket is listed.

Certainly looks like they are clearing the shelves. Triumph sale on parts. Jack Lilley Triumph have announced a parts / accessories sale on selected bikes with savings between 20% and 40%. Applies to the previous generation Bonneville family, Daytona, Street Triple, Explorer, Speed Triple and Thunderbird. Follow the link below to see a full list of parts available. http://bit.ly/2hbHxlu

I agree, and the pity is,as you say,I think a lot of us would go for a 1200 BA/Speedy.It would also be the last bike I bought, I reckon.

Some of us would be quite happy if they'd even just slot the new motor in the existing TBA rolling gear. But we're also the sort of folks who think it might have been a mistake to crawled out from the seas and evolved into mammals in the first place

I would be perfectly happy with a bigger engine in the BA/Speedy setup. I think our bikes are the best looking ever produced. Especially the earlier models with the 2007 being the " jewel"in the "crown"[the spokes of the earlier models do look good though]

I wrote that tongue in cheek Al.I didn't know about the idler gear. As my signature says,
"Oh Man I only ride 'em.I don't know what makes 'em work".
I like the cast wheels but I have come to like the look of spokes of the earlier bikes too, and another couple of liters of fuel in the bigger tank would be handy at times, but all in all,I love my '07.

To be a real pedant.....the new idler gear set up started mid 2005( I think)......so from then on till the ugly-tank models ( like mine, sigh) you have the option of spokes or cast wheels.....I'd like one in that lovely two tone grey they did for a short time. Oh, and just got in from Jack Lilley...fitted long tors and remap.....much nicer sound track......next up, the sai and o2 sensors

In 2005 you did not have an option of spokes or cast. All Americas came with spokes. My cast wheels were a $1,000 upgrade as you had to change out the tires too and needed a closer plate to hide where the other disc would be on the Speedmaster. The two tone Grey/Silver was 2006. They sold slowly but like you I liked that combination.

No matter what they do with the new models I have already made my decision. I was fortunate to find a low mile 2005 America in September 2015 that I will never let go.
In November Emma and I purchased a 2015 R3T for long haul riding.
I will enjoy seeing what is to come, but I am perfectly happy with the steeds I have in the stable.
I am still going to do the TTP Firestarter and Stage 1 mods over the winter to the America.
I have been approached about putting the America in some local shows this next summer. That will be fun.

I stopped by the dealer in Austin today. Service manager seemed to think that Triumph was going to phase out all but the Rocket and the Bonnies. He said that the Tiger might stay but it was hard to sell them with the BMW sitting right next to it.
