Yeah, my thoughts also. I will have to try some test pull ... Maybe got a winner, maybe a new guest house ... If a test don't make it, I will pull the bike with the car. But if it is a go, I will be the guy creating the traffic jam ... It's the damnnn xway that is uphill from here. Old hwy 18 is ? not much of a hill ...

Cell phone and AAA card.Keep in mind that regular AAA services (standard or plus) won't cover a motorcycle or RV.. you need to get AAA PlusRV to get coverage for them AAA Membership type comparisonCheers, Brad

I have some friends who borrowed something like that from the in-laws to drive from here to the Experimental Aeronautics Association (EAA) fly-in at Oskosh, WI a few years ago. Between Spokane and the jump off point in T. Falls they had 2 flats and the AC/heater went gonzo. The trip went downhill from there. Made for a hilarious story later over BBQ & a cold one . It's always nice to have friends who can be counted on for a "story" or two. Winnebagos must be tuff, except for some nagging top end rattling, as that particular one ran for miles ?3? qts low . You'll have better luck!! JH

Brave is an appropriate name. It describes the guy driving to Sturgis. Especially pulling a bike.

I see people do this, with this old age of an RV and even older bikes. The method I THINK, is to take 3 days to go that 900 miles and the same coming back ... I think taking the back roads/old hwys is a good idea also ...

Dont' underestimate the power of prayer! I was broke down on the highway going out of town and my bike died--the day after it was just in for a service check. I checked everything I knew to check then sat on the bike and prayed. When I opened my eyes and looked up, there was an old van parked right in front of me , very similar to the 'bread truck' Winnie, and this guy came walking towards me. He said "I don't know what I can do to help you, but the Lord just told me to stop and help." I said "all I need is a cell phone" and the guy told me he had a cell phone! I called the dealer and they came and picked up the bike and we went to the shop and they fixed the bike, and off I went again. Somehow the vacuum hose for the fuel petcock had come loose (2nd time) and the mechanic put a ziptie on it this time. It was a Sportster and you can't easily see that vacuum line from either side of the bike. Maybe it got bumped during service the day before. Anyway, I am a believer in prayer....just like the time I left my wallet AND all my money, and driver's license in a restroom at a gas stop---but didn't realize it until 50 miles further down the road towards home with about 100 more miles to go (I wasn't going to get 150 miles to a tank on the old Sportster!) ...or the time I was white water rafting with a friend and the raft overturned. Had ALL our money, credit cards and both sets of bike keys dumped in the river, lost!! That time I was about 2000 miles from home! Ya think I am working God overtime?? Believe it or not, we got EVERYTHING back! The fannypack had just enough air trapped in it to stay afloat but had drifted down the river and another raft picked it up, but we didn't know that until several hours later. We didn't even see it float away. I was running down a gravel road, barefoot, wet and cold and stopped to pray for God to please make everything alright. He sure did! My mother used to worry when I traveled on my bike alone, then I found out she had wanted to ferry planes to England during the war. The nut doesn't fall far from the tree. I know who I got this adventure streak from!

Well I've been praying for months that Angelina Jolie and Naomi Watts would bump into me at the airport, offer me a ride on their private jet, and then subject me to hours of mile-high bliss. Return. I don't think the Lord's listening Siggy

That's because He knows you're an atheist, Siggy . (Well, that's not the only reason, but it'll do for starters )

Cor blimey, guv, that's a bit unfair, ain't it? OK, maybe I could do a deal here - if the Angie/Naomi thing does happen, then I'll take that as a sign.
Can't say fairer than that, can I?

I wish I would have got into this earlier in my career/life. Classic Winnebago site is ? Priceless. Nothing but people helping people.
Oh yeah, do this math. This baby gets like 8 miles per gallon on a good day. 900 miles and another 900 miles back from Sturgis. I can go, just can't eat or drink, or go on any rides. Just park in the grounds ... Well, KOA has free pancakes every morning anyway. The singin cowboy "John" makes em ...

tatkin, I take it your Winnie is a gas burner. See if you can advance the spark timing some (without getting spark knock!). That should get you a little better gas mileage.
Also check the vacuum advance canister on the side of the distributor to make sure it is not leaking. Lack of advance just kills mileage.
When I worked in a speed shop years ago, guys would ask me how much timing they could run in their hot rod. I always said that they should advance it till it either spark knocked, or was hard to crank over when completely warmed up. If either of those two happened, just back off a little and try again.
Hope this saves you a few $$$.
