I just saw a craigslist ad for a 2006 bonneville ( http://westernmass.craigslist.org/mcy/5717535119.html ) that stated this is one of the last British made Triumphs...if this is true, where are they made now?

Assembled in Thailand as I was led to believe. I have heard/read it began differing years. The process of assembly capability was probably phased in as the plant was being built, some at first, than all of them as production capability was met . Edit: The quick check is the 11th character of your vin "J" = Jacknell road Hinckley England or "T" = Chonburi Thailand. The code seems to vary around the world, but this works for U.S. bikes.

I don't believe Triumph outsourced all their bikes, I thought it was just the Bonneville line. Also they may not be manufactured in Asia, just assembled there. Many Asian countries have crazy high tariffs and to sell there you need to invest there.

I thought they assembled them there for export but the ones made to be sold in England were still made in England.

The 05 America I picked up has a "J" as the 13th character of the VIN. Jacknell Road, Hinkley?

My '07 Vin Has a J and a T in it.??? I believe the Thais are making full bikes now.Only the Bonneville range though. That's why the price of Bonnies there has gone down a lot.No import taxes. They fouled up with the America/Speedmaster.They are apparently made in Thailand and sent to the UK Then exported from there. So there's big import taxes in Thailand for them. The T-Bird and Rocket are UK made. That's the scuttlebutt anyway.True?I don't know.
